Describe everyday objects in English using language support.
Understand descriptions given in English of known objects.
This is the list of the material we need:
Oculus VR glasses
Access to the Immerse platform
Objects list worksheet
Language support worksheet
The aim of this activity is to use the English language (L2) to describe some everyday objects that can be found in the garage environment of the Immerse platform. In order to do so, the teacher is going to log in to the platform and will explain the instructions to the class during the first 15 minutes of the lesson.
The class will be divided into small groups of three students each, and only one student per group at a time will be using the VR glasses. The students that are not using the glasses will have a worksheet with a list of objects that can be found in the garage environment. They will need to describe them one by one to the peer who is wearing the headset, who will have to find the object in the virtual world and tell the name to the people outside, if they guessed correctly they will cross the word and obtain one point. After 5 minutes, students are going to switch roles.
The list can be adapted depending on the level of the children
