Lesson duration: 60 minutes
Short description: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to talk about experiences in the airport, what items are allowed on a flight and vocabulary related to countries and traveling by plane.

Learning objectives (SWBATS):
- Communicate effectively in a specific setting as a passenger waiting for a flight.
- Interact with other passengers and airport staff using the English language.
PREPARATION FOR THE APP TASK CYCLE (BEFORE THE LESSON):
- MATERIALS NEEDED: COMPUTER OR VR GADGET, INTERNET CONNECTION, MICROPHONE, IMMERSE WEBSITE/APP, ACCESS CODE FOR THE VIRTUAL CLASSROOM.
PRE-TASK (20 MINUTES):
1. Introduction:
- The teacher explains the objectives and structure of the lesson.
- Students are introduced to the vocabulary and phrases related to airports and traveling.
2. Technological Setup:
- Ensure all students can log into the Immerse platform and understand its functionalities.
3. Warm-up questions: Have you ever been to an airport? Where did you travel to?
MAIN TASK (20 MINUTES):
1. Simulation Start:
- Students enter the virtual environment and start exploring while they are guided by the teacher.
- The first stop is by the ATM machine where there is a suitcase and a passport.
- Students discuss the following question: Are there important documents to present at the airport?
2. Move on to the hall with Flags
- Teacher inquires students: What kind of languages is common to hear in the airport?
Are all airports the same? Can you name the countries represented by those flags? What languages do they speak?
3. Preparing my suitcase.
- At security: show items exposed in the security counter. Discussion: Can I put all things in the same luggage? Are there any items that are allowed and prohibited?
4. At the board:
- Students will drag the items to a different column depending on whether they can go in the carry-on bag or must go in the checked bag.
- Students, you are good to go! Let’s get in the aircraft.
Students discuss the following questions: What else can you do in the airplane? Can you eat in the airplane? What would you like to eat there? Is it comfortable?
POST-TASK (20 MINUTES):
1. Debriefing:
- Students discuss their experiences, challenges faced, and lessons learned.
2. Feedback and Reflection:
- Group feedback session where students and teacher discuss performance.
- Individual reflection where students write about their learning and areas for improvement.
3. Assessment:
- An interactive quiz to assess vocabulary.
- A reflective discussion on why it is dangerous to take some items on a trip by plane.
EVALUATION:
Success Criteria:
- Students demonstrate the ability to discuss the topic and use vocabulary previously taught.
- Students show an understanding of the task instructions and can execute them effectively.
CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS:
- Large Groups:
- Divide them in groups and assign a leader for each group who will represent the other students when needed.
- Implement a rotation schedule to manage participation.
- Technology Issues:
- Have a backup plan for students who may face technical difficulties.
