SIMPLE DESCRIPTION
Our AR session is called "Saving animals" and aims to introduce the prepositions while working on the animals and their habitats as well. Children should capture some animals that got lost in the class and in the corridor in order to return them to their real habitat by using the following apps:
This is an augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) app which provides advanced AR and VR services and game development.
With this app you can generate fully customized QR Codes, with color & shape, logo and keep track of how many people scan your QR Codes, from where and on what date.
This app allows students to create an experience with their own virtual worlds. 3DBear is designed to solve classroom challenges related to active learning, personalized instruction, creativity, collaboration...
CONTEXTUALIZATION
Target age: second graders.
Target Language Level: A1
The activity should be carried out indoors, in a limited space. We thought that inside the class and the corridor.

Preparation for the app task cycle:
The teacher will previously download in the devices that will be used in the session the two main apps: Arloopa and 3DBear
The teacher will go through the app, checking how it works.
Once understood their functioning, the teacher can now create all the materials: pre-task, main task and post-task, language support and scaffolding.

PRE- TASK
Previous and required knowledge:
We will remind children that in the previous lessons we would have already worked the specific animals (elephant, dolphin, deer, camel, whale, lion and hippo) that we will be working in today's session, as well as the habitats where they live in.
Pre-tasks: Since in this task we will be working the prepositions, we created two main pre-tasks in order to introduce and scaffold them with the prepositions.
The preposition song.
We will sing this song 3 times. Once will be first sung and danced just by the teacher. The next two times will be sung and danced by both the teacher and the students.
By using this song, we help the students understand and internalize the prepositions in a dynamic way in which they will not just listen a song but also see the movements that relates the preposition together with its position. This will awaken students' interest and motivation.
The song lyrics are simple but catchy for the kids: "In, on ,under, in front of, behind, next to, between" (x2)
Memory Game.
Once danced and sung the song, children will be joined in groups and learning by playing will come into action. They will finish consolidating the different prepositions by playing memory with the flashcards that we have prepared. It is a game that students like very much, and they learn while having fun. Also in this case, they will not relate the position that each preposition indicated by listening, if not, they will do it by reading.
MAIN TASK
Preparation:
We created QRs that if we scan them with the camera, the app Arloopa is opened and it appears the animal in AR in the gadget.
QRs of the elephant, dolphin, deer, camel, whale, lion and hippo.
These QRs will be printed and hidden in different places in the classroom and main corridor (it will be limited space in order to control them). Example: a QR under the table, another next to the door...

Description:
The situation that we will present to students is the following: the animals escape from their habitats and they got lost in our school. We don’t know where they are, but we need to find them to bring them back to their habitat. To do so, you have to search the Qrs and scan them to know which is the animal hidden in there.
After introducing them the context of the activity, the second step will be the introduction of the Arloopa app to children. We will explain them for what is this app used and how does it work. We will tell them that they will have to scan the Qrs that they will find hidden all through the class. When they scan it, they will have to click on the link shown and it from it, it will be opened the Arloopa app. In order to see the animal in augmented reality, they will have to point the camera at a flat surface.
As this activity should be done in groups of three students, the first step before starting the activity, will be the creation of this groups.
Each kid of group will have a different role: the reporter, the scanner person and the writer.
To ensure that all groups participate equally, we would distribute specific animals to each one.
Finally, we will explain them that every time they find a Qr, they will have to complete the following template.
We will give them a demonstration of all the steps.
I find the Qr, I scan it, click on the link and so the Arloopa app will be opened. Then I will point with the camera to a flat surface in order to see the animal in AR. Then i will write the sentence to be completed with the template in the board, for example, if the QR found was under the table in which the elephant is shown, they will write the following: "The elephant is under the table but it lives in the jungle."
So, when they come up with a QR/ animal, they must scan it to capture the animal, and construct a short sentence to explain:
What animal is it, where have they found it and where is its habitat.
Students will be provided with language support and scaffolding shown below:
POST- TASK
Material:
Poster of the different habitats.
3D bear app.
By using the app 3D bear students will have to go to its animal corresponding habitat poster that will be hang up around the classroom and take a screenshot of the animal in its correct habitat with this app.
In this way we can represent the rescue of the different animals. Students are saving and returning the different animals to its natural habitat.
Finally, they will make a presentation to their mates about the work done. They could support themselves on the language scaffolding they have had during the lesson.
To end up the session, all the students together with the teacher will sing the prepositions song.
If we had the opportunity, it will be nice to make a different version of the prepositions song, introducing what worked in this session, in which we included the animals, the prepositions (regarding the place where the animals where found in the class), and the real habita where they should be.
