Exploring the World with Mizou
In this project, students explore different countries, cultures, and traditions through interactive learning. Using the AI tool Mizou, each group is assigned a country and collaborates with their chatbot to gather information, practice English, and create a poster about their country. With the teacher’s guidance, students learn new vocabulary, use sentence starters, and improve their communication skills. Finally, they present their posters in English and share what they have learned with the class.

Before starting the activity, the teacher prepares (30 min):
Tablets or computers with internet connection
Seven Mizou chatbots, each one representing a different country
QR codes for each chatbot, so groups can scan and open their conversation easily
Paper or notebooks for students to write the information they find
A big world map and materials for the final poster (markers, glue, scissors, etc.)
A short introduction, explaining that each group will talk to their country’s chatbot and collect information about culture, food, animals, and traditions
Some example questions (in a document) to help students start the conversation
Pre-task (Session 1)
Students are introduced to the project and to Mizou, the AI tool they will use throughout the unit. The teacher presents the topic about countries, cultures and traditions, and helps students activate their previous knowledge through interactive activities and discussions. This session focuses on learning basic vocabulary and ideas to prepare them for the next steps.
Main task (Sessions 2 and 3)
In the second session, each group is assigned a country and interacts in English with their chatbot, who represents the president or head of state of that country. With the teacher’s support, students ask questions, learn cultural facts and receive help with vocabulary and sentence starters.
During the third session, students use the information they have gathered to create a poster about their assigned country, including important facts, traditions and cultural elements.
Post-task (Session 4)
In the final session, groups present their posters in English and share what they have learned about their country. They also reflect on cultural similarities and differences. The teacher gives feedback and encourages students to value what they have achieved through the project.
We will hand the students this sheet to help them think of some questions.
