Reception: Comprehend detailed information from 3D artifacts and accompanying descriptions and audio hotspots.
Can understand the information content of the majority of recorded or broadcast material on topics of personal interest delivered in clear standard language.

Equipment: Smartphones/tablets with the BBC Civilisations AR app installed, projector for presentations.
Additional materials: Notebooks, pens, presentation template.
Brief description of each phase of task cycle
Pre-task (15 minutes):
Introduction to the historical context of selected artifacts.
Brief tutorial on using the BBC Civilisations AR app.
Introduction to the selected artifacts and their historical significance.
Main task (30 minutes):
Exploration (10 min): Students explore selected artifacts using the app, taking notes on key features, historical contexts, and information from audio hotspots.
Discussion (10 min): In pairs, students discuss their findings, utilizing a discussion guide to delve deeper into the analysis of the artifacts.
Presentation Preparation (10 min): Pairs prepare for their presentation, synthesizing their findings and discussions. They can also decide if they want to record their presentation using the screen recorder feature.
Post-task (15 minutes):
Presentations (10 min): Pairs share their findings with the class using the Presentation Worksheet as a guide. They can choose to show the AR artifact live, share pictures, or play their recorded video.
Reflection (5 min): Reflection on the use of AR in learning about history and art, and feedback exchange among peers.

Each artifact has a description page and 2/3 audio clips (hotspots) that provide additional information when the torch button is clicked. Students will need to rotate the artifact to find the audio clip play buttons.
