Draw a pirate pig and a royal shrimp on a seesaw

Paper, pencils, mechanical pencils

Size of Work 9" x 12"

The main idea of my work was to take the silly idea of a pirate pig and a royal shrimp and put them on a seesaw. In a way, I think that the drawing/ idea of the drawing could represent childhood, a pirate pig and a royal shrimp, both fun fantasy characters, playing together on a seesaw definitely could represent that magical place in a child's mind. Most importantly I was just trying to create a piece with the prompt that had been given to me.

I used white paper with mechanical pencils and Ticonderoga pencils.

At first, my idea was to just create a cartoon version of the pig and the shrimp on a seesaw but I decided adding detail to the art piece would add more character to the figures. Throughout the process, I tried to add little things that would interest the viewer like the little wooden leg on the pig, or the area around the seesaw that didn't have grass, hopefully, to show that the two characters spent a lot of time on the seesaw. I added the two on a hill at night because I thought it would give playful and somewhat interesting visuals. I didn't add color because I wanted to experiment with pencil and use shading to represent shadows and darkness.
