Map Before Contrast

Original Thinking Map Design
Original design of a map I would fill with color and add lines to show map of a my path throughout day.
The idea of this was to create a unique map of your path on a normal day. This was open for your own ideas so my final decision was to create a thermal map of my school day and an abstract map around my thermal map of my day.
To create this I used gel pen, to create bold and final lines, colored pencil, to create dark and strong shades of colors to show my thermal path, and oil pastel, because I wanted to try to see if oil pastel would fill better than colored pencil.
The main challenge I encountered when creating this piece was creating a neat and con trasted piece. My original design was not only sketchy but it did not provide for a neat or clean design so instead I decided to trace the outline of the upper floors of the school. To create bolder color I had to go over my color multiple times with different pressures due to the fact that the colored pencils I was using were lower quality and my lines were rushed. The final oomph to my map was the background design, instead of adding a more realistic map I used little points like those used in Google Maps, these added more contrast and meaning to my paper.
