Acrylic and Gouache Paint, and Water Marker on Drawing Paper
For this project, I used inspiration from Henry Matisse and Amy Sherald to guide my bright colors and my gray hues for my human figure to create a representational piece about the feeling of music to continue my investigation of how music has impacted me through childhood and adolescence.
For materials I used acrylic and gouache to create very vibrant colors and to be able to mix for overlapping shapes, I then used markers to help emphasize the vibrant colors and Sharpie markers to create my dancing figures.
The biggest fault in this piece of work is the clear brushstrokes. Looking back this would have looked more put together if it was done with cut-out pieces of bright paper even if I didn't have the biggest range because the brushstrokes and imperfections in the shapes stand out a lot more than I expected, meaning the vibrancy and meaning are less noticeable due to the imperfections. On the other hand, I am proud of the blending of colors and how the lines stand out due to the markers and sharpies I used. I think the extra pop of color creates a really chaotic and bright scene which was my intention.
