Cut up Image, Sharpie pen, and Colored Pencil on Printer Paper
In this sustained investigation, I wanted to use a photograph and somehow intertwin the music that was being played in the moment to visually represent what was being heard.
I used a image because it was taken during a time that I connect with music and whats important to me which is very important for my sustained investigation. I used a sharpie pen for my detail and simple design so it would be simple, stand out, and be dark enough to finish the photograph. Most importantly I used red, orange, and yellow colored pencil for the music to contrast against the blues in the photo and stand out.
My goal for this project was to use and create more intentional detail, which I think I accomplished with my line work and movement with the music. On the other hand, I still feel there is something missing, I'm not really sure I can say what. When creating this piece, I wanted to leave the background white so that all the music and red tone music would pop but also really contrast with the image, but at the same time, it feels to me as if there is white space or it is incomplete. I think because the white really helps it pop and helps blend in with the rips it's important to keep the white at the same time. I am very happy with how the contrast popped, as this has been a relatively weak aspect of my past works.
