Oil Pastel on Watercolor Paper

Extended Drawing

12" x 18"

Oil Pastel on Watercolor Paper, water color, acrylic paint, sharpie, and pencil.

Ideas:

The idea of this work was to blindly draw three things or people. Because I did not have people with me I drew my hand, dog, and cat. Then to transform that blind drawing into a piece of artwork that showed no white. When I drew the cat the lines stood out to me so I focused on the lines and shade, the dog reminded me of feathers and the shape of a fish, and the idea of the hand was to fingers represents the peaks and cracks of a mountain.

Material used:

I used oil pastels on watercolor to create the first outline and picture. For the final picture, I added sharpie, watercolor, pencil, and acrylic paint.

Process: First I blindly watched my hand, dog, and cat, and tried to copy the shapes I saw onto the paper without looking down. After this, I tried to see shapes and or meaning out of the three drawings. First I saw lines out of the cat, I saw how sharp the lines were and tried to emphasize the shapes in the final project, I also used darker tones and nude colors just like a cat would be. for the dog I started adding lines to where I thought made sense, at first I saw potato but that didn't mean much so I used the shape of the ears, eyes, and whiskers to create feathers. It turned into a rainbow feathered fish. For the hand drawing, I saw the peak of the mountain and tried to incorporate every line there was into the mountain's edges and cracks. I used watercolors for all to get gradients, and acrylics to add final detail and emphasis. Then sharpie was for fine lines and signature.
