History Based Coil Pot

For my history-based pot, I found a pot, one of two skyphos found on 22nd February 1910 in an elegant room to east of the peristyle, from Pompei, and printed out a picture. The goal of this project was to create the same shaped pot as the picture but create our own design. I tried my best to replicate the pot in the picture while also adding my own engraved design.

How did you do it (outline the creative process, idea generation, and the construction/surface techniques used)? For this pot, I used coils to gradually make a wider pot and skulp the same shape as the picture. As I learned how to make coils I got to learn how to make coils through the clay press, this not only helped speed up my process but helped me create the same-sized coils without drying out. I started using tools especially the wooden circular tool used for smoothening and shaping the clay. When it comes to my specific artistic decisions I used this green because I thought that this would be a good gift for my mother and this shiny olive would compliment the colors in the kitchen and she would be happy. Due to the color choice, I decided that I would make a vine-like pattern. I think that this will look good engraved into the clay. Other than those two artists' decisions I just tried to follow the original pot as closely I can.

I am happy with the outcome but if I were to do it again I would do a couple of things differently. First of I would have created a stronger foot, although my foot came out very nice, it got super lopsided when under pressure and I had to try and mold it back to the place when it was practically hard. I learned how weight distribution works all over a pot and how important to create sturdy layers all throughout the pot/cup/ or sculpture you making.
