*What is the main idea that guided your artwork? (What are you trying to say or figure out with your work?)

When creating this art I was trying to capture the scientifically accurate figure and movements of a long-tailed duck and its baby.

I used acrylic paints to be able to mix colors and create more layers, which is what I choose to match my artistic talent. I used colored pencils to add detail to the paint and also add more shadows and dimensions. I also used pastels, but I ended up painting over them because they messed with my colors and I didn't like the texture.

I choose a long-tailed duck because I liked the colors and the shape of the tail. When creating the background for my art I choose pastels based off of recommendations and the color of the water, when I created the pastels it covered by duck and background in blue and ruined most of the detail I had previously added to my duck, at the same time it wasn't realistic at all.  After analyzing the time I had, I decided it would be best to either restart my duck entirely or paint over everything I had already painted. I copied my art through the light room to have a basis and then I started to paint with water color. In the end, I went back to my original painting and painted over all of the mishaps. I tried my best with the light reflection but I struggled as I do not know how to paint water, but I analyzed many pictures of water to create a similar illusion.
