Duck Stamp

Swimming Ducks

9" x 11"

Wate color and Colored Pencil

The maine junior duck stamp is a competition every year to create the most realistic and accurate duck/ ducks through art and this year I choose the American Wigeon.

For Material I used water color as my base layer of color and shading which I had struggled with the previous year but found much simplilar and easier to add detail to after some use and lighter layers of water color, but then I used colored pencil for light shading and more detail, this was mostly in the feathers and weeds but the water also had coloring pencil to the materials were connected throughout the art piece.

There was a couple issues but my main issue with the duck stamp was time. This is starting to feel like a common occurance with my art and that is something that is going to change, as a result of missing school and overloading I eneded up misplacing my duckstamp and not finding until a week before midterms. Although finshed and somehwat aceptable, this late takes away the value of the time and effort I spent working on this duck in the first place. As it is too late I think that this is a lesson I will just have to take with me in the future and finsih work as early as possible and maybe not start a new one until the last one is finished.
