Duck Stamp

   For my duck stamp this year I chose to draw a drake and a hen mottled duck in a swampy area.

I used only colored pencils this year becuase last year I struggled with the inconsistent texture of adding watercolors and not being able to handle splotchy areas. I mainly used Prisma color colored pencils and some Simply colors because  I was at home sick and didn't have any of the Prisma yellows or blues. I found a piece of non-textured paper that was recommended to me that was very smooth to draw on.

I am so happy going back and seeing such progress each year in my duck stamps and also laughing at how my freshman year got third place. Even if this does not place I can see how much better it is than past years and I am very happy, especially the reflection. When looking at pictures most reflections are very disturbed in the water but I realized if the water is flat I can create a very direct reflection instead of playing around with shapes and messing up the perspective. Although I am much much happier with the reflection I still think there is too much white space even if there is supposed to be white as a reflection and highlight in the water.
