Choosing a category can help to make your book an Amazon bestseller
https://kindlepreneur.com/how-to-choose-the-best-kindle-ebook-kdp-category/
1. Go to Amazon and search for a general descriptive term in search bar - similar to what your book is (or keywords)
2. Click on each book, copy and paste category string into excel file ebook>fiction>science fiction
3. Click on the last link in the string and find the # 1 bestseller in that category
4. Click on the #1 bestseller and find its bestseller rank - copy and paste into spreadsheet
5. Keep doing until you have a great list of potential categories and one that you can potentially beat - you may be able to niche down even further into a niche to get a category that's easy to be a bestseller on
Bestseller Lists
1. Look at Amazon's bestseller List and at the ranks of the 20 books that show up in that list
2. If the bestseller is selling lots, but the other books on that list aren't, then other books (including mine) may not benefit from shoppers seeing the bestseller, but if all 20 are making good sales, that's a good indication its a good category. So check #1 and #20 to see how the sales are.
Make sure you continually research categories, because Amazon are continually adding new ones and they have much less competition

*Important
If you choose a category where the #1 book in that category has an ABSR of 2,000, then you’d need to have an ABSR or 1,999 or less in order to be the new #1. Using my kindle calculator, you’d find out that you’d need to sell over 90 books per day to reach that.
However, if you choose a category where the #1 book has an ABSR of 70,000, then all you need is an ABSR of 69,999 or less. Again, using my calculator, that’s only 3 books a day.
Big difference, right? 90 books vs 3 books?
So, the category you choose has a DIRECT effect on whether you’ll become an Amazon Best Seller and get that attractive bestseller tag.
