Gordon F. Pomeroy was born 25 JAN 1905. He became a furniture designer by 1930, and died 28 MAR 1969.

Mattie died in 1st January 1916 - possibly it in childbirth
On 6th November 1922 at Stockton California Edgar Pomeroy married again. His new wife was Lottie Lombadi daughter of Ferdinand Lombardi . She was 25, a house keeper, some 25 years his junior. Edgar naturalised in Aug 7th 1929 and was living 55 Eastus Ave San Francisco by 1929 .
In 1930 he& his new wife took a trip to England on the SS Hamburg from Southampton dept Aug 2nd arriving New York August 9th 1930
Edgar organised gym classes and two soccer teams and in 1898 he organised Oakland Hornets whose major games were against visiting British merchant seamen.
Edgar also excelled at rugby, cross country running, swimming and gymnastics and he formed the first San Francisco Bay area league with the first game being played in January of 1902. Led the Hornets to the championship and remained till 1908 when he joined the Olympic Club.
Edgar Pomeroy was Olympic Club Commissioner from 1914 to 1925, he spent the next five years organising various sports while Commissioner-Coach at Petaluna . He accompanied the 1924 US Olympic team that played some warm-up matches in England prior to the Olympic games in France.
One of these matches was a 13-9 loss to the Blackheath FC. Blackheath is the oldest open rugby club in the world and since they actually predate rugby, have maintained the “football club” part of their name, rather than the oft seen “RFC”. The programme from that match was obtained by R. Wagner and is on display at Kieran’s Irish Pub in downtown Minneapolis.
In 1932 Edgar managed the Barbarians, formerly the Hornets, and remained active in soccer until 1942.
Writing the annual report of the California Foot Ball Association (Headquartered in San Francisco) he commented on the matches in the California Foot Ball Association Cup competition being every bit as exciting as the Giants-Athletics World Series championship of the same year. Little did he realize that 73 years later, the Athletics and Giants would again play the world series, only this time representing his Association's hometown cities of Oakland and San Francisco!
Edgar Pomeroy was elected honorary president of the Northern California Football Association in 1942.

Annie’s aunt Stella Ash ( born 1915 & died 2016 age almost 101) remembers Edgar Pomeroy from when she met him in England in about 1924 , presumably when he was on the trip with the 1924 US Rugby Olympics team.
However there was another Edgar Pomeroy who came to a family funeral in the 1960’s.
(We believe our Edgar died in 1955) This could have been a son of Gordon or Edgar from CA
There was another Edgar Pomeroy born in CA living in the same area born in Mishawaka, Indiana, on the 21st of October, 1841, his parents being Charles W. and Permelia (Valentine) Pomeroy, both natives of New York.
