There is no sign of a Loveland as a property at Bickington in the Ilsington and Ingsdon manor area - There is a Love Lane in Bickington but thats quite a common name for a lane

HOWEVER there still exists a Loveland Farm near Bideford near High Bickington in North Devon, which is close to the coast near Bideford ,  not very far from Clovelly and about 6 miles away from the Pomeroy group at Abbotts Bickington.

LITTLE BOVEY   Little Bovey hath ever had divers lords; for in ye 27 of Kinge Henry III, Roger Putford 1181

Roger Putford, with the consent of Margery his wife, gave land in Little Bovy unto Roger de Punchardun his sonne. Richard Punchardun, sonne of Walter Punchardun, held lands in Little Bovy anno 22 R 2; and anno 1, Kinge Henry V ( 1413)  John Homaz, sonne of John Homaz of Exon held land their.

"Among Pomeray's under-tenants the two whose names occur most frequently are Roger and William, but there were apparently two Rogers.

[one Roger, son of Payn of Putford, the other Roger 'Aculeus,' called also Roger the Sandy, (flabus). The former was tenant of Julian Putford and Peamore and was represented in 1166 by Richard son of Payn de Puttiford. Richard de Puttiford held them in 124 1', and Walter Pollard in 1303].

The Holsworthy family of John Pomery & Rebecca Cleave links back across thirteen generations to their marriage in 1687.

This well researched family can be tracked by no fewer than eleven PFA members. It has expanded during the past year after some smaller trees in Plymouth were linked in.  We have a consistent DNA result for this tree but have yet  to extend this to the highest available resolution.

Abbots Bickington  SW of Great Torrington also known as Little Bickington  or  Bichetone / Bicatona

at Domesday was held from the king by Gerald the Chaplain  and had a beautiful little 13th century church. It  formed part of the original endowment of Hartland abbey in the 12th century , was retained until the Dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII –

It is 8 miles E. by N. of Torrington, and N.W. of Chulmleigh, and includes North and South Hele, Stowford, and other scattered farms. It is not far from Bradford with East Putford is less than a mile away.

The town had a charter for a market every Wednesday, which was discontinued about 1725, and it still has a cattle fair on the Monday after May 14th. From about 1400 onwards, owners were selling off parcels of land.

The Bassetts of Umberleigh inherited lands from the Champernownes while the Pyncombes of North Molton acquired large areas around the Parish.

No children found The Arscotts were an old family and were originally of Holsworthy. In the reign of Henry VI., they settled at Dunsland, in Bradford, in consequence of a marriage with the heiress of Batten. This elder branch became extinct in 1664: the heiress married Bickford. A younger branch settled at Tetcott by purchase, in the reign of Henry VIII.

John Arscott, Esq., the last of this branch, died in 1788:  Sir Arscott Ourry Molesworth, Bart., is its representative, in consequence of a marriage of his great-grandfather, Sir John Molesworth, Bart., who died in 1724. Another younger branch of Arscott settled at Tidwell, in East Budleigh, having married the heiress of St. Clere. The estate was sold, and the family removed about 1730.   Arms: — Per chevron, Az. and Erm., 2 stags' heads, caboshed, Or.

Tetcott is a small, isolated settlement in the far west of Devon some 5 miles to the south of Holsworthy, not far from North Tamerton. Situated in rolling parkland, it is unspoiled to this day by the ravages of modern development. At its hub is a splendid manor house with stables, a farm, a church and a few outbuildings clustered around them. The Arscotts of Tetcott were the junior branch of the Arscott family of Holsworthy whose origins go back to at least 1300. John Arscott purchased the Tetcott estate from the Earl of Huntingdon and took up residence there about 1550. The first manor house on the current site was started in John's time and was completed by his son Arthur in 1603.  A  plaque above the doorway of the manor house  comes from the corn mill used for the Tetcott estate.
