? how he is related to  William Barnhouse who married the daughter of Baron Sir Richard  who died 4196) ?

Richard  Pomeroy of Totnes  a Merchant and man of business

He was son of Agnes  Kelloway widowPomeroy & wife of Thomas Bowring , and was his mother's heir by Inheritance. He was also the Richard Pomeroy who held lease  from Champernouw , (C 1/1058/70) of Garston Grange in Totnes, close to Bowden House,  and who purchased a 25 year lease of the Manor of Little Totnes from John Ford;  Both were church properties subject to closure and made available by the King.

Garston was a grange, a home farm , supplying Totnes Priory; one of two which belonged to the Priory. It can still be found on Totnes  just south of Totnes beside the A381 road not far from Bowden House. It still has a very large pond, used by the monks to supply fish, a major part of the monastic diet

Richard Pomeroy was called a “Powerful” man, who has Good Council.  (Similar to the complaint Sir Edward made of Richard’s mother; that she had powerful friends.)

Thomas Artur was connected by marriage to John Wynter who had very powerful friends at Court of Henry VIII, members of the Privy Council and High Admirals amongst them.

They may well have know each other from an Army expedition.

Sir Thomas Artur, Knight; Man-at-Arms in service for Expedition to France under captain  Edward Lord Despenser (1336 - 1375) Company Commander, John, duke of Cambridge & Langley  with Edmund earl of  Brittany

He was the first of the Wynter family to settle in the Forest of Dean where he built a house Whitecross at Lydney. He died 1554 in Deptford the port on the south bank of the river Thames at London.

Four  sons, 1st Arthur 2nd William and 3rd George 4th Raph and 5 daughters 2 called Ann then Alice, Mary & Elizabeth. I suspect that Arthur and Ann 1 were children of his 1st marriage and his 2nd wife, Alice , was not best pleased that John gave preference to his eldest son rather than her sons.

Arthur was bequeathed ship called the ‘Matthew’, an armed merchantman ,and William got a 1/3 share is a ship either called George Brigg or a brigg called the ‘George ‘

Sir John Wynter had numerous very powerful friends as mentioned in his will of 1545.
