Hen. VIII. Same court: 24-277. Sir Edw. Pomeroy vs. Edmund Worth. Over a riot.
Early Chancery Proceedings, 414-22. (The address makes this date a little before 1518.)
To the most Rev'ent father in Citxl Thomas, Cardinal! Archbishop of York and Chauncelcr of England:
Your dayly orator and Bedmen Thomas Heth & Alyce hys wyf executrix of the last will (of John Newcombe) late deceasyd. Whereas said John Pom'ay was indebted unto John Newcombe x li (£10 ) & the latter made your oratrix his executrix & died, after hoose deth John Pom'ay made the said Johan his wyf his executrix, and the said Johan took to husband one Lewes Parkyn, who has the goods and credits of late John Pom'aye, oratrix for settlement of Newcomb's will has required of Lewes Parkyn & hys wyff the x li. which they have refused to pay. This refers to John Pomroy of Collaton Manor Bb 1492 died 1518 brother of James B 1490 d 1513 both sons of Andrew ( the elder ) d 1495 who was son of Nicholas 4th son of Edward Pomeroy & Margaret Beville by Nicholas's 1st & unnamed wife.
John Pomeroy of Colaton inherited the estate in 1513 , on the death of his brother James, & was married Johnan Strowde who after John's death in 1518 married Lewis Parkyn.
Visitations gives John one son,Andrew (senior ). It would appear that John had 2 other sons, both called John
But AJP wonders if brother James had a son he named John, & when James died in France in 1513, age 23 .Uncle John who already had 2 sons John & Andrew , adopted his brother's son ?

By C18th It was Bulverton hamlet with principal farm held by Robt. and Wm. Gregg (1915)
hence these two Johns remained in Sidmouth.
Today it is part of Sidmouth
BULVERTON Wikipedia
In C15th Bulverton is listed within the Manor of Sidmouth, but the tenants still owed fealty to the Abbess of Sion.
The Manor Court Roll of 1467 recorded that William Goule of Bolferton fell foul of the local assize when he was caught by the ale-taster brewing inferior ale and duly fined.
After the Dissolution of the monasteries, the Manor of Sidmouth, including the farms at Bulverton, passed into private ownership. In the late 18th Century, the Manor of Sidmouth was acquired by Thomas Jenkins, and successive owners expanded the estate.
At Bulverton, generations of the same families continued to farm the land as tenants - the Gigg family at Bulverton Farm (now Bulverton House) while the Coles family occupied Bulverton Well Farm. In the early 1950s the two farms, together with other historic cottages in the hamlet, were put up for sale when the Manor estate was dispersed.

(Possibly "KINGSTON, 3½ miles S.S.W. of Modbury in the South Hams )
KINGSTON, near Holberton- 3½ miles S.S.W. of Modbury in the South Hams. It has 2,233 acres of land, extending westward to the Erme estuary and southward to Bigbury Bay.
The manor of Kingston belongs to Rd. Julian, Esq., and that of Scobbescombe to T. Bulteel, Esq. The Wise family own Langston and Wonwell, and the Duke of Somerset and a few smaller owners have estates here.
Henry 1 gave it to Matilda Peverel, and it became part of the ecclesiastic parish of Ermington, Kingston Church being the daughter Church of Ermington. Members of the Peverel family were Lords of the Manor for two centuries, but they never lived in Kingston.
In 1291 there was a court case concerning the unlawful holding of land in Kingston belonging to William Martyn, the lord of the Manor. In 1524 forty-five men and two women were assessed for taxes to finance the war with France, and in 1596 fifty-one Kingston men were shown to be liable for war service during the threat of invasion.
