On 25 May 1768, the Admiralty commissioned Captain James Cook
to command a scientific voyage to the Pacific Ocean
During his first voyage, in HMS Endeavor , on 10th June 1770
Captain Cook ship ran aground. & he had discovered the Great Barrier Reef off the west coast of Australia-
His 2nd voyage 1772 -1775 and his 3rd voyage 1776–1779, into the Pacific were on
HMS Resolution a sloop , a merchant collier purchased by the Royal Navy & converted .
Bio. . James Cook -Born in North Riding of Yorkshire to a Scots farm labourer.
After trying work as shop boy, James Cook joined the British Merchant Navy as a teenager and then, in 1755, the Royal Navy.
He saw action in the Seven Years' War and after he surveyed and mapped much of the entrance to the St. Lawrence River during the siege of Quebec
he came to the attention of the Admiralty and the Royal Society .
The British exploration of the globe gave him command of HMS Endeavour in 1777 and in that ship he made the first of his three Pacific voyages.. He surveyed & recorded features , naming islands in great detail for the first time on a European map.
Sailing thousands of miles across largely uncharted areas of the globe he mapped lands from New Zealand to Hawaii
with a combination of leadership, seamanship, superior surveying & cartographic skills as well as physical courage in adverse conditions.
On his third exploratory voyage in the Pacific James Cook was attacked and killed in Hawaii in 1779 while attempting to kidnap an island chief.
He left a legacy of scientific & geographical knowledge that influenced his successors well into the 20th century.
There and numerous memorials worldwide have been dedicated to him, however there is also controversy over his role as 'an enabler of colonialism', as well as the violence associated with his contacts with indigenous peoples.
Captain James Cook Has NO Direct Descendants.
He had 2 brothers and 6 sisters , neither brother had children . Any descendants of his bloodline come from his sister Margaret Fleck & thus are not COOK

Eight ships of the Royal Navy have been named HMS Royal Oak, after the Royal Oak in which Charles II hid himself during his flight from the country in the English Civil War:
HMS Royal Oak (1664) was a 76-gun second rate launched in 1664 and burnt by the Dutch in 1667 in the Raid on the Medway.
HMS Royal Oak (1674) was a 70-gun third rate launched in 1674, rebuilt in 1690, 1713, and 1741. Her 1741 rebuild left her as a 64-gun fourth rate.
She became a prison ship between 1756 and 1763, and was broken up in 1764.
HMS Royal Oak (1769) was a 74-gun third rate launched in 1769 and used as a prison ship from 1796. She was renamed HMS Assistance in 1805, and was broken up in 1815.
HMS Royal Oak was to have been a 74-gun third rate but she was renamed HMS Renown before her launch in 1798.
HMS Royal Oak (1809) was a 74-gun third rate launched in 1809, on harbour service from 1825, and broken up in 1850.
HMS Royal Oak (1862) was an ironclad frigate launched in 1862 and sold in 1885.
HMS Royal Oak (1892) was a Royal Sovereign-class battleship launched in 1892 and scrapped in 1914.
HMS Royal Oak (08) was a Revenge-class battleship launched in 1914 and sunk at anchor in 1939, in Scapa Flow.

A huge problem along the south coast in the 17th Century, was the number of Barbary or Salee pirates who prayed on our ships. They had long spirited away ships and cargos but in August 1625 they came ashore ; corsairs raided Mount’s Bay in Cornwall & captured 60 men, women & children& took them into slavery. In 1626 St Keverne was repeatedly attacked, & boats out of Looe, Penzance, Mousehole & other Cornish ports were boarded, their crews taken captive & the empty ships left to drift. Around 60 Barbary men-of-war prowled the Devon and Cornish coasts & attacks became an almost daily occurrence. Those kidnapped were taken to the slave markets of the Ottoman Empire to be bought as labourers or concubines, or pressed into service as galleys slaves manning the oars.
These Moorish pirates for many years had a base on Lundy Island picking off ships as they approached Bristol and well as raiding around the coast . Many attempts to stop them were made, by the navy's of various countries, but it was not until an attack by the British and Dutch in 1816 , in which more than 4,000 Christian slaves were liberated , that the power of the Barbary pirates was broken.

Carabiniers (6th Dragoon Guards) was a cavalry regiment of the British Army was formed in 1685 as the Lord Lumley's Regiment of Horse.
It was renamed as His Majesty's 1st Regiment of Carabiniers in 1740, the 3rd Regiment of Horse (Carabiniers) in 1756 and the 6th Regiment of Dragoon Guards in 1788. After two centuries of service, including the First World War, the regiment was amalgamated with the 3rd Dragoon Guards (Prince of Wales's) to form the 3rd/6th Dragoon Guards in 1922.
