John Pomeroy born about 1492 died age 24 in 1518 ;
his widow Johane Strowde afterwards married Lewis Parkyn who may have been an Exeter Merchant
John was brother to James born about 1490 died 1513 & they were sons of Andrew Pomeroy who died in 1495
Andrew, wife unknown, was only son of Nicholas who was brother of Baron Henry , 2nd son & heir of Edward Pomeroy & his wife, Margaret Beville
Nicholas Pomeroy 3rd son of Edward Pomeroy & his wife Margaret Beville, Baron from 1426 until 1446
Nicholas was Bb about 1420 died about 1479;
His un-named 1st wife gave him Andrew who inherited Collaton Manor
2nd wife Agnes had no children by Nicholas. She survived him and married John Appleton
James Pomeroy 1st son of Andrew died in 1513 & his IPM of 1514 reveals he held about 900 acres of land
in North Devon

JAMES /Jacob older brother to John his heir - sons of Andrew Pomeroy * record 1495 but this s Andrew the Elder is not Andrew senior of Callaton manor.He died in 1581
This Andrew was dead by 1495. His son James was dead 19 years later in 1514 .IF it is the same James and there are no others in the records. I have his will with considerable estates in North Devon and close to Exmoor. James would have been between the age of 30 & 40 when he died and therefore may have married but without heirs other than his brother John.

His Will shows holdings in North Devon close to Exmoor
Matthew Pomeroy son of Edward and his wife Julia Forster is recorded in the parochial register for St Columb major as being buried there in 1634.
Record 1549 A complaint of trespass at Collaton
- close Date: 1549 Elizabeth Pomerey, widow (versus ) Richard Upcote, yeoman of Newton Ferrers. WHO WAS SHE
? a wife/widow possibly of James or an unrecorded daughter sister to William
80 years later a DEATH & Burial -in 1629 of Elizabeth Pomeroy gentlewoman. might she be daughter of Andrew Pomeroy junior & his wife Jane Hext born 1603
She may have been Elizabeth daughter of Ellys Pomeroy of a place near Newton Ferrers buried 8 Feb 1604 at nearby Battisborough
Might she be Elizabeth Bonython the widow of Henry of Tregony dissolute MP & Mayor who was almost 20 years her senior, and who died intestate in 1624 in Tregony ?
Henry died intestate, probably towards the end of 1624. Administration of his estate, estimated for probate purposes at £1,000, was granted to his widow on 18 Jan. 1625.
On the death of his childless eldest son Hugh in 1674, the Cornish branch of the family was extinguished, its remaining property passing to a distant cousin, Roger Pomeroy
Trying to establish where this John Pomeroy connects to the main armorial line is difficult without precise dates .
However by taking it generation by generation from the marriage of Richard Leigh son of Mary daughter of the first Andrew , this seems to me that it is likely that John was the brother recorded in the Visitations of the Pomeroys as ’being mentioned in his brother’s will’;
IPM for Sir John Pomeray Manor of Tregony 1414 -6 Hen. V. IPM. heirs, Joan wife of Sir Thomas Pomeray, daughter of Joan sister of John Pomeray & John Cole esq., son of Margaret another sister of said John.
Which Confirms what Alma asserted - John, father of Robert of Ingsdon was also called John of Cornwall
