Roger POMEROY formed a bank in 1810 with Messrs Hine, Holdsworthy and Pomeroy.
A 19th century Brixham Bank £1 note was issued by the Brixham Bank in February 1814. Someone absconded with the money according to local legend & the bank was forced to close in 1824 with Roger POMEROY declared bankrupt in 1826.

It seems that Roger Pomeroy the son was duped by men using his reputation and good name in Brixham to set up a Bank:
they then proceeded to skim off the money, leaving Roger to the shame of bankruptcy.

Having moved to London and the census records keep track of them in 1841 & 1851. His son Roger appears in 1861 & 1881 and in 1891 he was back in Brixham .
Roger junior owned some property on the Quay at Brixham which he sold and by 1901 the son Roger is living in London with his step brother, working as a house decorator.
Mary Lyde Pomeroy married in Australia in 1869 from the residence of her mother, Jane Pomeroy, called Braidwood, in New South Wales, Australia.
