Tsujii Nobuyuki and Hidekazu Yoshida (a literary and music critic)
Although music criticYoshida Hidekazu-san passed away in May last year, I imagine that he observed the playing of Nobuyuk Tsujii. In my opinion, the playing of Mr. Tsujii is the kind that Mr. Yoshida loves, but how do you feel? His playing is a sound that he learned from the body in the ear rather than from the score in the eye, such as old Kengyo's (Michio Miyagi and Imai Keisho such as the blind musician); to me it sounds like coming from the bottom of thecerebellum.
There was only one answer from musicum2012さん
Well, there was no article that he wrote about Mr. Tsujii. I guess, having heard the world's great musicians, he would probably say the performance of Mr. Tsujii is "good, for someone who cannot see".
And since he surely must have had the opportunity to see Mr. Tsujii perform, the fact that he wrote nothing about him probably means the impression was not favorable."
Isn't that the most ridiculous argument? I wanted to post a response, but the question has been closed. If I could, I would have posted a response that says:
The revered critic, who lived from 1913 to 2012, probably had other matters to occupy him in his advanced age by the time Nobu came to fame. And, in any case, surely a wise critic would realize that during his own last years on earth, the young pianist was still at his formative stage and so no conclusion should yet be drawn. If you dislike the piano music of Tsujii-san, please say so as your own opinion, instead of hiding behind the presumed opinion of a deceased critic who could no longer speak for himself!
And then there is this tweet:
『THE PIANIST! I finally saw "THE PIANIST! Nobuyuki × Takashi Kako × Les Freres". I didn't go to the performance before it was sold out. It is amazing for a piano-only concert to sell out. Of course, it is the personality as well as the ability, even a maestro like Zimerman could not fill the seats.
Exactly, Krystian Zimerman may be a virtuoso, but by all accounts he has a difficult personality -- he walked out of concerts and he lectured his audience about their behavior. With all due respect, he seems someone "full of himself." Nobu, on the other hand, has a friendly and humble demeanor (which is genuine) and as so many people have written on the web, "he and his miusic make people happy."

26 years of blind pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii
On the 11PM NHKradio programs under the title of "Nobuyuki Tsujii's 26 years", for three days his mother spoke about raising children from birth, I was very impressed.
Previously I had heard that the father is an obstetrician and the mother is an announcer. On the program her voice was very pleasant and the content of the program was also wonderful.
He was born blind, and often than not the parents would be sad.
Growing up, Nobuyuki-kun was very fond of flowers.
The mother read books about the blind so that the touch of the shape and the smell of the flowers make them interesting to him, and make his mind appreciate the brightness.
Then recognizing his interest in the sound of the piano,
she introduced him to piano lessons from the age of five, and it seems that everyday he practices happily.
It was recommended that she sought a piano teacher for him to try out at piano competitions, and he began to win. Then through repeated practice, he became a genius pianist and won in various competitions.
His dad the obstetrician observed for the first time the upbringing of a baby born with a disability ... it is easy to despair because of the handicap, but she had to teach the son so that he does not feel sad.
There is also the support of people around to give him the opportunity to be active as a pianist.
It is the most fun for the mother to watch the sight of his son standing on the stage at a concert.
On each of the 3 days, the thrilling piano playing of Mr. Nobuyuki was flowing at the end of the broadcast.

Why does Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii sway his head and body? Feeling? It looks also like an emotional expression, but ...
And his walking gait seems a little awkward.
This appearance of Mr. Tsujii is not mentioned in the media reports, for some reason.
Perhaps it is bad manner to ask, but I frankly want to know.
There are 17 responses, such as this one:
[rough translation]
It is not limited to Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii . It is not unusal for someone visually impaired to rock his body.
It is one of the traits of the visually impaired that is seldom mentioned in reports, for fear that exposing it may lead to discrimination of the visually impaired.
Why do the visually impaired rock their bodies? I once had a visually impaired friend who told me ...
A visually impaired person cannot see light.。
To establish his position, he senses the movements of the wind, and he must touch something.
When there is nothing to touch, then there is no choice but to shake the body.
The visually impaired do so to give himself a sense of his position.
Sighted people can perceive the world around them, but a visually impaired person can only sense through his skin.
As for his awkward gait, I think that comes from being in the dark. It does not affect the music of Mr. Tsujii. The question does not bother me, but it makes me feel sad.

This posting may be considered a compliment to Nobu, except that the description of him is so riddled with errors that it is laughable:

Top 10 Most Popular Blind Musicians of All Time
NobuYuki is another famous and versatile blind musician, singer, and songwriter. He rose to fame at the age of 25. Being Japanese, he has been the master of American music like a native. Ya know, I saw Nobuyuki Tsujii preform once. My parents and I were vacationing in Amsterdam -I know, not the place you'd expect to see a Japanese pianist- but he was really great."
[To my knowledge, Nobu has never performed in the Netherlands.]

Yuko Kokubun, a prize-winning Tokyo female artist, was apparently at one of the Tokyo performances, and posted the following interesting tweets -- my translation of them is shaky:
Tsujii Nobuyuki "Appassionata" in Suntory Hall / ah, we have been rushed into the second chapter of a masterpiece.
At the time of his debut he was a boy in communication with God, playing with the sound of glass beads. Last year seems to have been a transition period to an independent adult of sound thinking ... he is now a professional showing off his firm skills. He is breaking his voice into a sustained pianist. -tweet
Tsujii Nobuyuki "Appassionata" / Chopin: Barcarolle in F-sharp major, Op. 60 and Beethoven: Sonata No. 23 in F minor Op. 57 "Appassionata" -- the ferocious power shook the heart. The voice is breaking. The Chopin is no longer as glittering as before, and Liszt's La Campanella is also different. His music reflects his living experience.
Tsujii Nobuyuki "Appassionata" / The metamorphosis of Mr. Tsujii (The glass of the youth has gained depth) -- When compared with paintings: the angel boy whose tone danced in glitter and joy as in the pastels of Rodon is now trying to acquire a robust force and magnificent structure and descriptive power, such as Turner. This is the human suffering of one person as they say in Russia - that's my impression.
