This review of Nobu's album of recordings from the 2009 Cliburn Competition is freshly written, judging from the opening paragraph which mentions that just concluded Chopin Competition.

If you’re not currently tired of listening to too much Chopin’s E minor piano concerto from the recent Chopin Piano Competition, here’s a very good performance of the concerto from pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, joint winner of the Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. This is a live recording and features the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra led by James Conlon. Along with the E minor concerto, Tsujii also performs Chopin’s Berceuse Op.57 and the 12 Études Op.10.
Tsujii’s approach to the Piano Concerto No.1 is not one of flamboyance, but one of passion and sincerity. His playing is clear and comes straight from the heart. The orchestra supports him well, but it’s Tsujii’s performance that really makes this rendition shine. The Berceuse is prettily played. His Études Op.10 are great and individualistic. Although they aren’t perfect, they flow very naturally under Tsujii’s playing. The sound quality of the recording is good.
Overall, this is a charming recording from a lovely pianist, and I look forward to hearing more performances from Tsujii.
My final thought? Highly recommended.

Story of of someone who is with Nobuyuki Tsujii day and night, and one who works for the Vienna State Opera
This week continues from last week's of recordings from May 2015 in Vienna. We hear am omterview in the dressing room of a regular concert performed by Yutaka Sado and Nobuyuki Tsujii, held prior to the inauguration of Sado as director of with Tonkünstler Orchestra.
辻井伸行さんご本人のお話では、ペテレンコ、アシュケナージとも共演したこのプロコフィエフの3番についてが中心です。あのピアニストアシュケナージの棒でプロコフィエフを弾いて、それでリピートを重ねているのですから、それだけでも大したものですね。
Tsujii Nobuyuki said even though he has already performed the Prokofiev third under the batons of Petrenko and Ashkenazi, this performance is still a very big deal.
その辻井さんに世界中同行しているエイベックスの浅野さんのお話も貴重だと思います。日本の音楽関係の会社でロンドンに本拠地を持ち制作しているのは珍しくて、そのあたりもうかがいました。
Also valuable is a conversation with Mr. Asano of Avex, who escorts Tsujii around the world.
We ask him about the unusual practice of the London office established by the company to promote music relationaship with Japan.

In 5th place is "La Campanella - Virtuoso Liszt," "debut" at 11th place, "God's medical chart ~ Nobuyuki Tsujii original compositions" in 18th place, and "Nobuyuki Tsujii Impressions" in 20th place. Popular pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii is to appear in three performances of Yomikyo.
Suntory classic series of February 4 (Thursday), Metropolitan Series (gold) on the 5th, and the Minato Mirai holiday classics series on the 6th (Saturday).
昨日から１回券の一般発売が始まり、上記３公演は発売翌日に完売。
いずれもカンブルランの指揮で、辻井さんはベートーヴェンのPf協奏曲１番を弾きます。
曲目は他にデュティユーの「音色、空間、運動」とベートーヴェンの交響曲６番「田園」。
それにしても、辻井さんって相変わらず凄い人気ですね。

Under the baton of Cambreling, Tsujii to play piano Concerto No. 1 of Beethoven.
Also on the program are Dutilleux music "timbre, space, exercise," and Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral".

There are LOTS of tickets still available, although the choice seats are gone. Herbst Theatre seats 900 people. In Japan those tickets would have been long gone.

The Japan Society of Northern California is presenting a gala concert, featuring Nobuyuki Tsujii on Oct. 17, in the renovated Herbst Theatre, among the first classical-music events to take place there.
Blind since birth, pianist Tsujii has learned music by ear and braille since age 2, and achieved international fame. He is also a composer, his music recorded in several albums, his film scores receiving awards. He has raised funds to benefit victims by performing his "Elegy for the Victims of the Tsunami of March 11, 2011 in Japan" in Carnegie Hall and elsewhere.
Since 2005, Tsujii has been performing in Europe, and received the Critics’ Award at the 15th International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. In 2009, at age 21, Tsujii won a gold medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, creating "Nobu fever" in his native Japan and around the world; he was called an inspiration to those who face disabilities or obstacles in art and life.
