Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii co-stars with Mr. Vladimir Ashkenazy
...
It 's the 24th of September.
The Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa in the Isaac Stern Hall
There was a concert of the 25th anniversary of establishment.
Grieg and "Piano Concerto in A minor," and Beethoven's "Symphony No. 7".
After the Piano Concerto, Mr. Tsujii played solo songs include one that he composed.
The delicate, soft sound, and of course the talent reminding me that it is not easy task in the effort.
As always, I was impressed with his courage.
After the first part, there was a 20-minute intermission.
Also about two years ago, Mt. Tsujii came to the wheelchair section of the concert hall during the break ... and spoke to us.
I can still hear him to this day...

Impressed with the story of pianist Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii
Pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii. Due to a disorder in the development of his eyeballs, he has never seen the face of his parents. I recently saw a video of when he won the Cliburn Competition.
Wow! I found more videos.
The mother discovered his talent and praised him for his piano playing, a heartwarming parent-child story. Here is a video of him performing at Carnegie Hall at the time of 12 years old.
It seems that he was given a toy piano at 2-year-old, and started playing immediately. It is true that the talent in some children is easy to recognize. Here is a video of him at 2 years and 7 months.
And here is a video of him traveling with his mother in Venice. This comes from a documentary that shows that he is able to capture the sensitivity of Venice, such as the fragrance of the wind. It's easy to forget, but smell is one of the most important senses. The whisper of the heart in the expressions of beautiful words from the mother, and the gentle tone of his music: they are impressive.

The Power of Imagination "Whisper of the River" Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii
... In recent years he has performed about 80 concerts at home and abroad, and he has also dabbled in making music for movies and dramas. He has expanded his playing field.
His biggest goal is to "make a concerto or sonata like Chopin or Rachmaninoff, to premiere them, and to leave a legacy with the works."Â To this end, he hopes to begin to study music composing.
He has never considered performing and songwriting "hard" and "something to get away from", but he has his private worries. He confided in a self-conscious manner. "I want to be loved, but ......"
His ideal woman is one with a gentle and clean heart, and one who likes music. Recently, when he was performing the "Piano Concerto No. 2" allegedly composed by Chopin about his first love at the age of 19, Mr. Tsujii was impressed by the energy that love brought to the music. He said, his cheeks blushing, "It is wonderful when you dedicate a song to a woman that you love".
This 25-year-old young man, whose imagination is on fire as he expands his themes, Nobuyuki Tsujii is facing music squarely.

Among comments posted to the the Facebook page of the orchestra are these two from members of the orchestra
- I discovered that it is difficult, if not impossible, to play French Horn while crying like a baby! It was amazing.
- This was my all-time favorite concert. Mr. Tsujii's joy was absolutely contagious. What an honor to share the stage with him!
<These comments reaffirms something that I have often observed: The musicians who perform with Nobu are among those most moved by him, I believe it is because they understand the superb musicality that it takes to perform like Nobu does, and they see closeup what Nobu is like in person.>
Conductor Chelsea Tipton, who travels to Atlanta to receive an award this morning, posted this note on his facebook page:
Congratulations to the musicians of the Symphony of Southeast Texas for a phenomenal concert last night. The Dances of Galanta especially rocked with a special shout out to Ronald White on his clarinet solos last night. Nobuyuki Tsujii was fantastic to work with and the audience loved him. It was a privilege to share the stage with this wonderful orchestra. Have super Sunday and rest of the week. Peace

- This is outstanding performance !
I love his tender but passionate play.
How lucky I am to get this dvd!
I will keep watch his growth!
-The most brilliant new pianist! Plays not only standard finger breakers, but the best Beethoven D-minor sonata I ever heard!!!
- "Such humility in this great artist. He doesn't realize how extra-ordinary his playing...both technique and expression..puts him in the category of one of the all time great pianists. "
Rachmaninov Piano Concerto with Liszt Pieces on U.K. amazon site; samples:
- I first heard Tsujii at a concert and got three CDs to see if what I heard at at the concert was real. IT IS and these recordings are all excellent. I have never seen anybody play the piano with the intensity and musicality like this. It sounds like an entire orchestra and sucks you right into the performance.
- Given the media attention hyping up young Japanese pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, co-winner of the gold medal at Van Cliburn brutally challenging piano competition, the real question has to be: How is the music coming across? Fortunately in this case, we are so far beyond stunts and headline-grabs ... that we can sit back and relish how this young player just lets go, and really digs into the music he plays.

<Tickets for Nobu's Nov. 1 performance of Grieg's concerto with the BBC Philharmonic are still available, though the picture is much better than a month ago, and also better compared to other similar performances held at the Bridgewater Hall , Manchester, U.K. It is disappointing that the excitement generated by Nobu's BBC Proms debut has not carried over to this concert. One reason is the location of the concert, in Manchester instead of London.  And perhaps Grieg's Concerto has fallen out of favor in recent years. Yet another reason may be the competition of a sold-out Lang Lang performance that comes up at about the same time (on November 10), as illustrated by what one Asian blogger (studying music in Manchester) wrote on October 21>
<Photo of a concert ticket to Lang Lang's event is shown>

Thanks for this link. This is an online version of a free magazine and the page is very well made. I enjoyed reading this interview. As Nobuko says,
most of the article is nothing new, but I enjoyed what Nobu said about the Orpheus orchestra. He says he met the orchestra members in New York in
March. They are known for doing a lot of rehearsals. Nobu told them he is good at communicating with other musicians with playing music (and not by words) and then they told him the soloists like Nobu will start expressing his opinions after two to three days of rehearsals. He also says his future dreams are enriching his repertoire and having a nice girlfriend

Tickets for the February 28 Nagano stop on Nobu's 2013/14 Japan recital Tour came on sale today in Japan, and reportedly sold out in no time, as mentioned by one on the Nobuyuki Tsujii fans facebook page:
"I tried to book ticket for Matsumoto on Feb. 28 this morning, and continued to ring with redial button , at the same time through Internet, however, recorded message repeatedly telling, now this line is extremely busy, and 23 minutes later, finally got through line, but all the tickets both Internet and telephone booking are now sold out with great regret. If you get ticket, you are very , very lucky person indeed."

â(Me)Hi, may I ask if Nobuyuki Tsujii play any encore at the Meyerhoff?
â Nobuyuki Tsujii did indeed play encores at @BaltSymphony, 3 to be exact! #inspiration The audience was ecstatic! -tweet
â (Me) 3 encores! That's quite unusual! Even in this own country Japan he only plays 1 or 2 encores after a concerto. Thx,
â I'm not sure if one would count the last one as full encore. It was short thing & the audience went crazy!
â(Me)Nobuyuki Tsujii usually posts a report on his overseas performances, with list of encores. http://www.nobupiano1988.com/recitalreport/index.html âŠ

Some comments have noted that there have been concerts that have not sold out. In spite of his great achievements, this pianist is not as well known everywhere as some more famous artists. Before tonight's concert, I had not heard of him. After tonight's concert, I would recommend that concertgoers run - do not walk - to get tickets. He is a phenomenal performer - unforgettable!

Pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii performs a recital in Berlin!
At the Otto Brown - Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic Berlin, it is the third time that he has done so, after recitals atthe small hall Lumpur and Konzerthaus is (Kammermusiksaal). The Berlin Chamber Hall is a circular hall of great acoustics, with audience surrounding the Hall. It was on this stage that Karajan made ââa Kokeraotoshi performance of Four Seasons by Vivaldi. No doubt, it is a privilege to be in this best of chamber music hall to enjoy theperformance of the piano recital.

This great list of comments about Nobu tuned up in today's news search: posted by FreeBooksBay ( a search engine of ebooks on the Internet), such as these - I so wish they would find their way to the IMG artist page for Nobu
âIt wasnât a question of Tsujiiâs technique, which was immaculate; it was the intense feeling he put into Rachmaninoffâs Piano Concerto #2 that garnered him an instant standing ovation followed by encore. It was heart opening, ecstatic, at times primal.â
- Edmonton Journal
âHow he can commit so many notes to memory and deliver them with such fearless technical assurance, accuracy and musicality is simply astonishing. Clearly he is blessed with extraordinary dedication to making music, and that, along with his nearly infallible fingers, shone brightly.
Liszt's Un sospiro ("A Sigh") and Rigoletto Concert Paraphrase roared and sang in the grand Romantic manner. The nonchalance with which Tsujii negotiated the etude's fiendish hand-crossings took your breath away, as did the ardent sweep he brought to the opera transcription.â
- Chicago Tribune
âIt certainly was a powerful, memorable performance that even had orchestra players themselves in tears. Tsujii [led the way], with his strong hands covering the keyboard attack, left with flawless bass counterpoint and right with melodic fingering that lingered in delicate touches and then flew in allegro flights. Tsujii's technical mastery and passion reached a musical climax that made his encore all the more remarkable - Times Herald-Record

This is a fresh posting on the U.S. "Amateur Pianists" site, with a video of Nobu's "La Campanella" performance at the Cliburn Competition. I am not too keen with the "Amazing blind pianist" title of the posting, but there are come interesting comments on the page. Such as these
- Nobuyuki Tsujii has just played Rach 2 concerto at the London Proms. Amazing and uplifting, but also a perforÂmance of wonderful musiÂcality and strength.
- La Campanella is a trial for any pianist because of the unremitting virtuÂosity and treachÂerous leaps. To know it can be done â and accuÂrately â by a blind performer raises interÂesting quesÂtions about control, freedom and natural coordination.
- He inhales the applause with true humility and geniusâŠGod Bless Him

A big thanks to an Italian admirer of Nobu, who kindly informed me of a newly announced performance - a big one! On March 10 of 2014, Nobu will perform Piano Concerto no. 2 by Sergei Prokofiev (listen to a rendition of it here) with the Filarmonica de la Scala and Valery Gergiev at the Theatro alla Scala La Scala Theatre, Milan, Italy. Nobu performed Prokofiev's 3rd concerto in London, in 2012 - I was there, but this will be his first performance of Prokofiev's second, which is considered even more daunting. And this performance comes in the middle of his own Japan recital tour
I have been in the La Scala Theatre It is breathtakingly beautiful, both inside and outside.

You can listen to a rendition of Sergei Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 here. According to wikipedia, the work "remains one of the most technically formidable piano concertos in the standard repertoire." "Argerich wouldnât touch it, Kissin delayed learning it, and even Prokofiev as virtuoso had got into a terrible mess trying to perform it".Â
<The webpage of the performance was updated some time after this posting - instead of Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2, it now list Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3.>

Nobuyuki Tsujii Berlin Concert
Riding in a taxi in Berlin to subway station; I got to see a lot than usual.
This one brought me a great deal of pride as a Japanese, a concert poster over Musik Saar, near the subway station.Â
Immediately, I thought, "Mr. Tsujii is doing his best."
I was glad to have seen him in interviews many times.
He has played in Berlin, but I still have never heard him even once playing abroad.
The other day, during an interview of Ashkenazi, I heard him talking about co-starring with Nobuyuki Tsujii. He said, "He is very talented, and obedient."
I would love to listen to music in a foreign country when I have a chance. Because it would be exceptional to listen to a performance in an audience overseas.
Seeing this photo today was such a rare happenstance. Because I would not have laid eyes on it if not for the taxi ride. Thanks to the TV crew. Thanks.
Mr. Tsujii, please, good luck with the concert. And I will go to hear you someday.

Last night, I drove by car with my children to a temple, and stopped by TSUTAYA. The children rented CDs of Western jazz and comedy. I normally do not borrow anything, but I checked out a CD of Debussy by Nobuyuki Tsujii, which happened to catch my eye yesterday. In expressive and clean sound, the playing brought out a fragrance and colors totally. Sensibility towards this I guess is a thing of nature. There are some still photos in the album. Now that I have heard Tsujii's Debussy this morning, I was able to start my lessons refreshed.

Nobuyuki Tsujii and Ashkenazi
Today was a concert appreciation in Arkas SASEBO in the afternoon, after a long time. And Nobuyuki Tsujii was the soloist, with the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa directed by world renowned Maestro Vladimir Ashkenazy. According to the talk in the lobby, since this is the last day of the Japan tour, they may be tired of the long journey, but it is likely that there is a growing sense of fulfillment and concentration in the players. Expectation increased.
Tickets were sold out, due to the popularity of the piano of Mr. Tsujii and of Mr. Ashkenazi; the 2,000 seats in the Al Qasr great hall were filled. When tickets were released in June, I made phone calls in the morning tenanciously and finally got an A seat, and was seated in the center of the second floor, which afforded a good view of the orchestra. It was a pretty good seat.
...
And then finally it was the appearance of Mr. Tsujii, brought to the front of the piano by Mr. Ashkenazi. Track was a piano concerto Grieg. I could not see the conducting of Ashkenazi, but it seemed that he was mostly focused on the timing of Mr. Tsujii. It was a great performance; the breathing was matched very well.
The orchestra is small in comparison with the Japan Phil, but it seemed to be well balanced; each instrument turned up strongly.
When the performance was over, Mr. Tsujii was guided by Mr. Ashkenazy backstage once, then returned to play an encore of "To Spring" by Grieg. For the next encore, Mr. Tsujii prompted Mr. Ashkenazy to play, clapping heartily as if to say 'you play this time". He <Ashkenazy> played a little bit of Chopin's "Revolution" etude and said to Mr. Tsujii, "You play this", at which point Mr. Tsujii sat down and did just that.  This might have been a unique exchange of this kind on the tour...

This blogger describes yesterday's Sasebo concert well. I have no time to translate the whoe thing, but (s)he thinks it was a stunning performance, and describes the cute incident of Nobu urging Ashkensazy to play on the piano when Ashkenazy guided him to the piano for the 2nd encore. It was cute and touching beyond words.

It was excellent!!! Ashkenazy was so friendly, did great job,Nobu was fantastic ,looked very well, and cute as usual.
Nobu played two encores, Chopin's nocturne fantasy <No. 20 posthumus> , and etude 12-12.
Here is Paul's comment for tonight's concert.
I really was impressed by the concerto ... But far more moved by the first encore, Chopin's Nocturn no. 20 in C sharp minor .. In fact I was crying in parts. As for the second encore that was just youthful showing off !! Haha.. No really it was wonderful to hear the piece played perfectly live... Just stunning. The sound in that hall is pretty good considering it's shape and the hardness of its surfaces.
Well worth the trip!

Review: Clair de Lune ~ Nobuyuki Tsujii plays Debussy
I actually dragged my feet to a 2012 concert tour performance of Nobuyuki Tsujii.
But I was very impressed with his playing of Debussy in live music, so I purchased this CD as soon as it came on sale!
I love his Chopin playing, which I felt expresses the feelings of Chopin. But his Debussy remind me of the scene of a painting , a happy feeling and I was able to feel f the "mind's eye" of Mr. Tsujii. I have come to understand the word amazing!
A big thanks to Yoko who posted on my Nobuyuki Tsujii fans facebook page about a recent post by Mr. Kawakami, childhood piano teacher of 12 years of Nobu. Interpretation of the blog post, titled ãã¢ããç¶ããçæ³çãªæ¹æ³ "The ideal way to continue with the piano", is beyond my Japanese competency, but I think he wrote that the secret to Nobu's success is that he is self-motivated. Yoko commented thus:
" å ã»ã©ãå·äžæè£ããã®ïŒæïŒïŒæ¥ä»ãã®ããã°ãèªã¿ãŸããããã¢ããç¶ããçæ³çãªç°å¢ãšèšãäºã§ããã蟻äºããã®ïŒïŒå¹Žéã®ãã¢ãã«å¯Ÿããç®æšã¯åžžã« ã¢ãããŒã·ã§ã³ãé«ããç·Žç¿ãããŒã£ãã飜ããäºãªãç¶ããŠããããšã蟻äºããã¯ïŒïŒæ³ã§ãããããã«ãªã£ãŠã誰ãã«æå°ãåãããããã®ããªïŒãšãµãšæ ãæããããŸããä»å¹Žã®å€ã«äžåœäººã®ããªãã§ã³ããã¯ãèªåã®é³æ¥œæ§ãé«ããçºã«ã©ããã®å çã«æå°ãåããŠãããšã³ã¡ã³ãããããŸããã蟻äºããã®ä»å ã®ã³ã³ãã§ã«ãã«ã€ããŠã¯ãæ°ãããæ«é²ç®ãããããã ãã©ãèªåã®ç¬èªã®è§£éã§èª°ãã«ã¢ããŽã¡ã€ã¹ãªã©åããŠããã®ããªïŒãšæããŸããããŸã ïŒïŒæ³ãªã® ã«ä»åã®ã³ã³ãã§ã«ãã«ããŠãæ¶ãªãããŠã¯èŽããªãã»ã©æåããŠããŸã£ãããã§ããèŽããã³ã«æåããŠããŸããŸããããã¯ã倩æ§ã®ãã®ã§èªç¶ãšèªåã®æã ããŸãŸã«ãã¢ãã§è¡šçŸããäºãã§ããçã®ãã¢ãã¹ããªãã ãªïŒãšæãããã®é ã§ãã"
I think Yoko is concerned about whether Nobu is continuing to get good guidance from a teacher even as he performs professionally, a concern that I share. Â But I just heard from Miyuki, who wrote:Â <Yoko> is wondering if Nobu is still getting guidance from a teacher; but the reason of that is because she was moved to tears hearing his concerto performance this time. She thinks Nobu can express whatever he feels so naturally and she is wondering if that's all from his interpretations or if it's based on someone else's guidance. She says Nobu keeps moving her at such a young age.

I had heard from people who were impressed listening to them and raved about him. I wondered it it is true.

There is no me the power to divide listen to a place called. And figure to play splendidly while shouldering a handy.

Soulful conductor Ashkenazy generates a warm and friendly atmosphere.
It was a wonderful concert, one of the best.
Mr. Tsujii is playing numerous activities abroad as well as in Japan; he is getting more and more polished.
I felt strongly that this time his playing was not only beautiful and strong, but there is also a kind of self-confidence in his playing.
Two works were played for encores. Chopin's Nocturne No. 20 of Chopin "posthumous work" and Etude in C minor, Op. 10-12 "revolution".
I was glad to listen to the piano solo, It tugs at my heart

Piano Nobuyuki Tsujii's
Today Osaka in "The Symphony Hall"
Performance of Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, with Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii.
Conductor was Vladimir Ashkenazy, for whose command a podium equipped with a handrail is provided.
Tsujii appeared on stage to play the second piece with the orchestra.
Applause did not stop at his exit; three solo encores <actually, only three>
With a smile, he bowed politely in 6 direction facing the audience; He exited waving his hand
The venue was brightened by his warm personality.
This is the third time, it was good.
On the way back, my wife was thinking about the next.
Although I thought that it is not time yet to get back into the poolã

Classical music on a three-day weekend!
I went to hear Vladimir Ashkenazy conductor at an Osaka regular performance of the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa.
Symphony Hall was overcrowded for the performance of pianist Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii.
Symphony Hall was filled with good sound, from the first track the sound was mellow!
Mr. Tsujii appeared for the second track, along with Mr. Ashkenazi! It was a smiling face! ! Tsujii's piano was great today even, a clear and beautiful tone. Scenes of Northern Europe seemed to come to mind, including the encores.
During the encore performances of Mr. Tsujii, Mr. Ashkenazi sat quietly sitting on the podium! It softens somewhat.
Thunderous applause for Tsujii, who applauded the orchestra. It was a wonderful sight...

Today I went to the concert of conductor Ashkenazy, piano Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii, and the OEK .
... As usual, at a concert of Tsujii, the atmosphere is always different with the presence of fans. Two women yapping loudly.Â
... In the Grieg, Tsujii and orchestra did not match slightly. But there was a big cheer after the first movement.
Two encore songs immediately afterwards - it is the special feature of Mr. Tsujii.
As Tsujii is led off the stage by Mr. Ashkenazy, he waved his hand to the audience and the audience clapped as hard as possible
The personality is a factor of his popularity. ..

Today is the first day of ticket release for the Osaka performances of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. <Editor: It was actually September 22 Sunday when tickets first came on sale at 10AM Japan time>
... I had expected the two performances two sell out in the blink of any eye.
Tickets for the 2nd day did sell out immediately, but for the first day, there were A and B seats still availalbe!!
... The third reason is that the price is set too high, on the strength of Mr. Tsujii. I think the audience has been stretched too far,
I think it's a price range that the audience can no longer keep up with.  Perhaps "anything Tsujii" is, little by little, no longer such a hot item.
Tickets unsold this time might be an omen that the "Tsujii bubble" has possibly burst ....

Horror of the Racoon Dog Bastard <I believe this is a derisive reference to Nobu>
Let's face it, the performances of Mr. Tsujii sell tickets bar none.
Hyogo Performing Arts Center, Paavo Jarvi/ Paris ... of November, and Nerusonsu / Birmingham is likely to still have available high seats. Also in this popular hall, high performances, there is no better sales excluding the Berlin Philharmonic class. Blomstedt/Bamberg last year was sold out, but Jansons / Bavarian did not, unlike in Tokyo. This fall it seems there is an unprecedented rush of orchestras to Japan, with the failure of the Verona Opera an extreme case.  Perhaps the bubble is all these visits to Japan. By the way, for the Osaka International Festival next year, would there be Zinman / Tonhalle or other? What large Phil I wonder will come?

Seattle Symphonyâs opening night concert and gala with Lang Lang
Lifestyle
Written by Kelly Huang Â

... Lang Lang definitely made classical music hip. With his hands constantly soaring and plunging into the keyboard, he successfully impressed the audience and made it seem as if classical music can yet be pop. Nevertheless, some would agree that there was a lack of emotion in Lang Langâs performance. There was a ton of energy and sparks, but not enough intimacy with the music. If a good musician is one that dives into a deep conversation with tempo, lyrics, and instrument, Lang Lang might be better respected as a drilled performer than a great musician.
When the Japanese pianist Tsujii Nobuyuki performed last season at Seattle Symphonyâs Celebrate Asia, the audience stood up and clapped with tears in their eyes. You could feel Nobuyukiâs emotion even when you closed your eyes and just listened to his music. On the other hand, Lang Lang impressed the audience with visual sensations, more so than heart-touching intimacy with his music. ...

... Remember Lang Lang â the pianist who became a classical music celebrity, playing at the White House and the Beijing Olympics? Well, Nobuyuki Tsujii may even be more talented. In his native Japan, the 24-year-old is mobbed wherever he goes, and expect rapturous receptions over here, too, after his performance at this summerâs Proms, when he was given a standing ovation. I think that today was a special day. The mother and manager of Mr. Tsujii greeted guests at the entrance. Oh the mother is so beautiful! Another unusual thing, a quartet was playing something in the lobby.
Luxurious atmosphere !
Sure enough, the bulletin board said there is a TV camera.
Appeared on the stage finally! Tsujii was guided by the master. From the back his height has not changed - so petite
Seated in the second row from the front of the stage, I could see the eye contact, the gestures of Ashkenazy behind Tsujii.
Mr. Ashkenazy, I was impressed his facial expressions while commanding, watching Tsujii and members of the string session.
The Chopin concerto No. 2, to my ears seemed better than most that I have heard.
Melody, played cleanly and gently, in the delicate way that only Tsujii can play. Soul is shaken. I was moved to tears.
Ashkenazy synchronized the orchestra with Tsujii with perfect timing, winking and smiling many times.
He seemed impressed with the piano playing by Tsujii while still commanding.
The first movement was exciting. The second movement made me sigh.
The best was the third movement. Breath of the orchestra is good! !
I wonder if Tsujii wonder has powered up more than in 2010.
For encore, nocture and revolution of Chopin.
Vocalise for orchestra ...
It seemed that some fans of Mr. Tsujii ... went home and did not listen to the second part? There is no excuse for them to miss an excellent second part.
September 21/22
Yuko and Shinro, whom I met in London in 2012 at the Nobu-Ashkenazy-Philharmonia concerts, were also at the Freiday September 20 concert. Shinro wrote:
Today, we are so happily surprised that you already updated your website to inform of the great concerts at the Bunkamura Orchard Hall held last night and this afternoon.
Yes, I sincerely agree with you.  Although it is so nice facility in terms of "design", but its sound quality is not so nice.
However, both Yuko and I much enjoyed Tsujii-san's performance.
I was personally so surprised by absolute progress of his "expression".
Of course, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa itself is so sophisticated one, but this time, Tsujii-san leads the way far, so far, ahead.
I am recalling a concert about two years ago, when tsujii-san played Mozart's #21 piano concerto with the orchestra at Opera City Tokyo. At that time, I did not feel any strange feeling, but felt nice ensemble of the orchestra with piano.  However, this time, Tsujii-san's performance shook my soul, and the orchestra just follow his performance.
The Grieg's concerto of yesterday was indeed one of his best performance I ever experienced.

Second day Nobuyuki Tsujii (piano) Conductor Ashkenazy Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa Japan tour 2013 / Orchard Hall
2013.09.21 Saturday0
And after listening to Nobuyuki Tsujii and Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa at the Orchard Hall yesterday, not quite 17 hours had passed, I pushed the limit of happiness, and sat in the audience once again..
Tracks performed were:.
Mendelssohn: "Hebrides" Overture op.26
Chopin Piano ConcertoNo. 2 in F minor, op.21
Beethoven: Symphony No. 7 in A major op.92
Unlike yesterday, today I was seated right in front, I could touch Ashkenazi.
Got a close look and saw that he was smiling after all; Ashkenazi was fun.
The Mendelssohn over, the piano was placed in the middle of the stage in the same way as yesterday.
Tteka, tremendous piano close. It seems to really touch.
And Steinway. I wonder if it was so yesterday?
Finally, Mr. Tsujii was guilded on stage by Ashkenazi. Seriously, I could have touched Mr. Tsujii!
So the Chopin piano concerto began.
The first few minutes seemed tentative, and I wondered ... but that after a few minutes, the sound of God!
Really.
Thought I: if I listen up close to such a beautiful sound, is everyone in the audience in awe. I looked around and it was so. The sound was unbelievably nice.
The beautiful sound of Mr. Tsujii, I often feel it in the spine, but today I feel that ut came around in the waist.
I felt the sound hugging the waist, the sound is like luster.
Encores are two Chopin songs, No. 20 Nocturne and "revolution".
The nocture I heard in the Lake Kawaguchi concer. But it is hard to say which performance is the better.
I felt it better at Kawaguchiko, I wonder if if was a little too soft?
Mr. Tsujii's "revolution" I never get tired of no matter how many times I listen.
At the time of the Pianist festival last month, he also played "revolution", I thought it wa sthe best ever, but today it was so wonderful and might have topped it.
...
Hanging around the lobby at during intermission, I heard:
"It was really good!"
"Thrilling. I was thrilled!"
"I want to follow up to Osaka!" (Why Osaka?)
I wonder if it was better than yesterday?
I feel like that may also be the case.
...
Next up in November, Mr. Tsujii is giving a Chopin & Liszt concert tour.Â
I think if Ashkenazi comes to Japan again, I want to go listen.

After the first piece was over, the grand piano that was in a corner of the stage was brought to the center.
Finally, Ashkenazy appeared in the wings with Mr. Tsujii and guided him to the side of the piano.
Guiding Mr. Tsujii. Ashkenazi looked like a friendly grandpa. He is a little cute.
The Grieg Piano Concerto, when the piano of Mr. Tsujii began, I thought, "Oh, what would this sound like?"Â It was another unusually clean sound in piano. Â It felt similar to the glittery feeling when he played at the Pianist Festival before this.
I wonder if it is the same Steinway piano?
Be that as it may. Oh My God, again the piano brought out a strange sound such as the universe had come out.
The sound of the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa is very beautiful, and it gives a good feeling.
Yet once Mr. Ysujii's piano began, the world seemed to expand. His world is, characteristically, a basis to conquer

I went to the concert of pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, held in Ishikawa Prefectural Music Hall on 9/17,
Conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy with members of the gorgeousOrchestra Ensemble Kanazawa (OEK) that the local is proud of.
Mr. Tsujii plays in Kanazawa once or twice a year Tsujii, but I could not get ticket until now. I was able to get the opportunity to hear the performance live for the first time.
The Chopin by Tsujii I was listening to for the first time, divine, was very beautiful and clean!
Feeling as if looking at the cloudless sky of the past few days.
Pure sound that I guess dwells in the pure soul.
Anyway, it was a happy time.
As you know, Tsujii is vision impaired from a young age, but he is a young pianist playing an active part in the world of piano, his talent is now blossoming.
His talent will be polished further, and I hope he will enjoy more and more success in the future.
For encore he played only one song, but it was a Nocturne.
I wanted to listening to him play more ...
Tsujii that drawn a hand to Mr. Ashkenazy, toward the piano was pretty!
I felt the goodness of his personality as he bowed deeply and smiled shyly.
It seems that he will also appear in a concert in February of next year in Kanazawa, I'm going to listen absolutely if I could.

Ashkenazy & Nobuyuki Tsujii
2013-09-19 13:11:24Â
I went to Nagoya subscription concert of the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa
Ashkenazy is conductor, Nobuyuki Tsujii is soloist of the Chopin piano concerto
Tsujii is a blind pianist
It was a youthful, friendly, great tone
I think that like Ashkenazi, he will become a great pianist in the future
...
During the encore performance of Tsujii, Ashkenazi stood listening behind the second violin
It was interesting that at pivotal points his body stopped rocking or moving.
It was a concert of the great satisfaction, for the first time in a long time!

Nobuyuki Tsujii, global pianist fulfills dream of co-performing with conductor Ashkenazy
September 18, 2013
... Nobuyuki Tsujii performed for the first timewith virtuoso Ashkenazi and OEK in June 2010. Then, at the invitation of Ashkenazi, he performed with the maestro and the Philharmonia Orchestra in London in 2012, impressing the audience. Now, the miracle of co-starring has been realized in Japan.
Said Nobuyuki Tsujii: "I am above the clouds to be able to tour in the presence of Ashkenazi; I listened to his CDs from a young age and wanted to perform with him one day. This is great happiness".  Ashkenazi, which is considered one of the best modern pianists, also honored Nobuyuki Tsujii by saying that "He is a pianist with a great talent".

Typhoon passed, and it became a fine stunning autumn day nationwide today. In Kanazawa, regular performance of the new season of OEK was held. In command was Vladimir Ashkenazy's, with piano soloist Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii; the venue was full to capacity ...
... Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2 was played with popular pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii. The lightness touch and beauty of the sound of Mr. Tsujii was impressive. I think the beauty of the second movement is reminiscent of the Nocturne in particular; and the lightness after the horn signal of the final movement was comforting. However, I felt as a whole the dramatic atmosphere in the flow of the music was lacking, the impact is a little weak. I think the 25-year-old, same age as the OEK, will continue to mature in the future as Mr. Tsujii gains life experience.

Pianist Tsujii enthusiastic to perform  Â
2013/09/16 Mon 19:19
There was a press conference before the start of the tour of the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa with global pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii. At the event, Tsujii shows a strong willingness to "want to impress even a small audience". Nobuyuki Tsujii has earned a high reputation in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in the United States, winning for the first time as a Japanese. In addition, the track he performs showcases Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2" , fusion of the sound of the orchestra with the appealing piano of Mr.Tsujii. At the pre-performance press conference , Tsujii was keen for the success of the performance. "I want to make music that can impress the audience, and bring even a little fun. Really". Performances of the orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa and Mr. Tsujii opens at the prefectural music hall of Kanazawa from 7:00 pm on the 17th.

A global pianist of former Soviet Union, who also served as music director of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Ashkenazy (76)Â worked as a conductor in recent years. After winning the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009 in the United States , Mr. Tsujii (25)Â has performed with orchestras around the country. He has performed with the OEK since age 10. A total of eleven performances are schedued in Nagoya, Tokyo, Osaka, etc., including Kanazawa this time.
A happy Mr. Tsujii said, "It is important to support the region's excellent chamber orchestra everywhere." I am glad to be of help."  And to be able to tour with Maestro Ashkenazy is "above the clouds". But he wants to take care of the performance one at a time.
On the Kanazawa program is Chopin's second Piano Concerto Chopin, Hebrides" Overture of Mendelssohn, the second symphony of Schumann . Curtain at seven pm. Advance tickets are sold out, but a few slightly auxiliary seat tickets will be available from half past five pm that day. (Matsuoka, etc.)

Nobuyuki Tsujii's Debussy recording
Unquestionably, Nobuyuki Tsujii is the most popular pianist in Japan now. He is engaged in hectic performance activities at home and abroad, but gave a recital ââin my local city in May of this year. It is estimated that about 95% of his capacity audience are female, which raises the question of whether his fans are different from the so-called core classic fans.
Regarding the performances of Nobuyuki Tsujii in recent years: In concertos he has overcome the special challenge of tightly coordinating with the orchestra without being able to see the conductor; in playing solo, his technique is crisp and his sonority faultless. Regardless of his popularity, his ability should be appreciated.
Nobuyuki Tsujii has a new album that is now on sale, a collection of works by Claude Debussy. It is recorded in Tel index Studios in Berlin in July of this year.
The track are listed below. The workds are from Debussy's medium-term, before the composer established his style. I do wonder if they are a good match for the fresh, modern sensibility of Nobuyuki Tsujii.
Anyway, I will leave it to you to enjoy the performance.
<list of tracks followed>
I was compelled to respond. What I wanted to say was rejected, because it is in English
I am American, and I too am a female, though I do not usually attend concerts in Japan. You mentioned that the audiences at the concerts of Mr. Tsujii seem to be predominantly female, and wonder if they reflect the normal core classical music audience -- as if that's something negative.Â
Perhaps a different way to look at it is that Mr. Tsujii is bringing in fresh participants to classical music that normally may not frequent these concerts. I have noticed -- from web postings -- that Mr. Tsujii has also seemed to win the hearts of many senior people, male or female.
I have attended 10 concerts of Mr. Tsujii, in the U.S. and the U.K. The audience mix is typical as far as I can tell.Â
Does it really matter? Surely you have noticed that the audiences at the performances of MS. Yuja Wang, who wears provocative costumes on stage, are predominantly MALE. Hmm ... I wonder if those are core classical music fans ...
So, using my limited Japanese, the response I submitted (and now posted) is:

Hello, I am a Nobuyuki Tsujii fan, from America.
"It is estimated that about 95% of his capacity audience are female, which raises the question of whether his fans are different from the so-called core classic fans."

... Speaking of piano concerto, I saw a flyer of Nobuyuki Tsujii san and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra to perform in the hall of the city where I live, so I want to go. ¥ 15,000 and S seat; the cheapest is 9000 yen for a C seat.
Speaking of Mr. Nobuyuki Tsujii, I heard him at the age of 15; he was playing for the first time at a concert in Ikebukuro.
At that time, it was an all-Mozart program, where Tsujii played Mozart's "26th Piano Concerto <coronation>".
I think at the time he said, "Because there is a high school exam, I won't perform for some time after this concert."
This time, the concert at the hall of my city is an all-Mozart program, and he seems to play the "26th Piano Concerto," the same as that.
I want to go.
But it is a little high.
I suppose the tickets will be sold in no time.

"The Van Cliburn competition has long been the most prestigious platform for pivotal career breakthroughs by aspiring pianists. A collective gasp was heard throughout the musical world when the 2009 gold medalist was announcedâan unheralded 21-year old Japanese player named Nobuyuki Tsujii, blind since birth, whose final Cliburn performance was called âabsolutely miraculous.â Since then, orchestras and recital halls have been scrambling to introduce this phenomenally gifted musician to their audiences. With solo recitals at such centers as Carnegie Hall, the Aspen Festival, and the Kennedy Center, and with concerto engagements with many of the worldâs most prominent orchestras, Tsujii remains the darling of the moment, his sudden acclaim easily bolstered by technical skills and musical gifts of astonishing brilliance. The Winnepeg Free Press has praised his ârapturous phrases with an almost improvisatory nature,â and Boston Globeâs Richard Dyer paid him the supreme compliment: âVery seldom do I close my notebook and just give myself over to it, and he made that necessary. I didnât want to be interrupted in what I was hearing.â His Williams Center debut features a heroic work that has become something of a specialty for himâBeethovenâs Piano Concerto No. 5, âEmperor.â Orpheus opens the program with another Beethoven favorite, the Overture to Coriolan; Mozartâs Symphony No. 39 completes the pleasures of the evening. First lecture in September
I gave a talk on piano performance in Tokyo today.
It was a family meeting organized by FUJITSU called "Executive Seminar", at the Meiji Memorial Hall. It was my first time here.
For me, who has little experience in such things, it was an exciting and unusal atmosphere to see several hundred people of different levesl in management gather in a place like this.
Although my talk was supposed to focus on various inspiring untold story from my experience with pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, I spoke about the things in common between the success of Fujitsu developing the world's No. 1 supercomputer and how Tsujii-kun became currently a global competitive performer ...

http://theartofpromenading.wordpress.com/tag/royal-albert-hall/ <The Art of Promenading - Becky learns the art of promenading with a summer at the Proms>
After a couple of testing nights at the Royal Albert Hall I wondered what Proms 6 and 7 would have in store for me. Two Proms in one night felt a daunting prospect as I joined the queue.
Prom 6 comprised three pieces-the first of which was a world premiere filling me with some trepidation as the two previous premieres Iâd experienced at the Proms had not been entirely pleasurable. My faith has been restored! âA Vision of the Seaâ by David Matthews was an enjoyable experience. Written at the composerâs home in Deal looking out over the Kent coast, I could hear waves lapping and seagulls cawing. The percussion section particularly impressed me, the three musicians working as a team to juggle the myriad of instruments throughout the piece.
The Hall was at full capacity and I suspect that most were there for pianist Nobuyuki Tsujiiâs Proms debut. He gave a stunning performance of Rachmaninovâs Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor. The piece had a reserved feel to it at the outset and it wasnât until the heavenly second movement that I felt emotionally involved in the music. By the end of the dramatic third movement I was enthralled. Thankfully so was everyone else and our enthusiastic applause secured an encore from the pianist. A beautiful performance of Franz Lisztâs âLa Campanellaâ. Such a privilege to hear....

Press release from the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, which opens its 2013-14 season. It will perform with Nobu in January. It will be interesting to see how Nobu interacts with this unusual orchestra, which has no conductor.
September 3, 2013 (New York, NY) â Orpheus Chamber Orchestra opens its 41st season at Carnegie Hall with their first of four concerts tracing the evolution of the concerto over four centuries and the composer/performers who created them.

Later this season, Orpheus welcomes internationally renowned soloists to their Carnegie Hall concerts including clarinetist Martin Fröst, pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, and violinist Christian Tetzlaff. ..
Orpheus Chamber Orchestra has over its 41-year history revolutionized how audiences think about classical music and orchestral leadership. By abandoning traditional hierarchies, Orpheus conforms to a democratic model holding rehearsals that encourage artistic discussion, rotating seating assignments for each piece, and performing works from the classical to contemporary without a conductor. The orchestra has recorded over 70 albums including the Grammy Award-winning Shadow Dances: Stravinsky Miniatures, and to date has commissioned and premiered more than 40 original works.
