♪ January 24 Lots of tickets remain for Nobu's April Liverpool performances
Where are the classical music fans in Liverpool? I just checked tickets sales for Nobu's April 21 (Thursday) & 22 (Friday) performances of Beethoven's 'Emperor' with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. Sad to say, there are LOTS of empty seats, especially for the Friday performance. Then again that seems to be the norm with every classical music concert at that venue, including ones conducted by Vasily Petrenko. When I was there in Fall 2014 for Nobu's performance, the house was full both times. What's going on?
April 21 (Thursday) & 22 (Friday) Liverpool Philharmonic Hall (1,693 seats)
Darrell Ang conducts Beethoven Piano Concerto No.5 ‘Emperor
Mr. Robin Bloxsidge posted a thoughtful response on the Nobuyuki Tsujii fans facebook page
As someone who is almost totally devoted to the Liverpool Philharmonic, I am disappointed by every concert that sells badly - and there are some with very poor sales. That happens, however, in all venues and with all orchestras and I am most sorry for the people who miss wonderful performances of wonderful music. In general, though, I think you are exaggerating the extent of poor ticket sales across the whole programme in Livepool where we have better sales than in many venues (Vasily's concert last Thursday was completely sold out and so have others). Specifically, looking at the advance sales for Nobu's two concerts: the Thursday concert will probably be quite good given that it's 3 months away and a lot of people won't yet have bought tickets for the second half of the season. Friday, though, does look pretty bad and this will be very disappointing if it does not improve a lot, especially given Nobu's popularity the last time he was in Liverpool and Darrell Ang's success the last time he conduced here. I will refer your comments to the Marketing Department of Liverpool Philharmonic.

ミュンヘン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団 日本公演2015 レポート
Munich Philharmonic Orchestra Japan Tour 2015 report
The prestigious and leading orchestra of Germany, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, gave a nationwide Japan tour in 6 performances.
The performances were under the baton of the Russian maestro Valery Gergiev, who was appointed Chief Conductor of the Munich Philharmonic since September 2015. This Japan tour was a showcase and a unique opportunity to listen to the vivid sound of the orchestra under the newly inaugurated Chief Conductor.
The Munich Philharmonic was built in the golden age of the DNA of Bruckner.
Composer Richard Strauss was Munich-born, and Beethoven is the essence of German music. And at the center of it are composers of Russian music: Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich.
The ideal concert program was achieved with the Russian maestro Valery Gergiev and the the prestigious Munich Philharmonic of Germany.
The soloist pianist has performed with Maestro Gergiev repeatedly since 2012, when they gave an acclaimed performance at the "White Nights of Stars Music Festival." This tour was their first co-appearance in Japan, and it showcased the piano concerto masterpiece of Beethoven's "Emperor."It was a special performance for Nobuyuki Tsujii to develop his real ability as a pianist and to continue his momentum as an international pianist representing Japan.

Special interview of Nobuyuki Tsujii
We talk with the pianist soloist on the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra 2015 Japan Tour about the charm of the performances and the new BMW 7 series.
I have heard from Nobu fans in Japan about some of what Nobu said in the video:
About his 2016 plan: "He talks about 'All-Chopin recital'. This is the first time that he is challenging himself to perform Chopin's four ballads. He always enjoy playing a new repertoire."
"Nobu (or maybe his parents) just bought a BMW and it's funny that he enjoys its massaging seats."

In 2013, Mr. Honisch invited Nobu to the university -- an event described in this blog post and also on this page on this site.
Apparently Mr. Honisch has now finished his dissertation and will defend it at a doctoral examination held on January 29. I believe this article by Mr. Honisch runs close to his dissertation: here
Our best wishes to Mr. Honisch!
