Journeying into God: St. Bonaventure's Road Map - 5 wrz 2020. In his 1259 book Itinerarium mentis in Deum, "The Soul's Journey into God," the Franciscan mystic St. Bonaventure (1221-1274) offers a road map for spiritual wayfarers. He argues that pilgrims seeking God can arrive at and enter into the Divine's "superluminous darkness" by following God's "footprints" in the material world and "simulacra" in our souls. God's presence as sheer Being, sheer Goodness, and Trinity is present everywhere we look - but only if we're aflame with love for Christ - shepherding us towards the intimate union with Him for which we long. Fr. Kerry Walters offers here an introduction to the Itinerarium - a guide to Bonaventure's sometimes puzzling road map.

Zgodnie z myślą Bonawentury, właściwe zrozumienie techniki wymaga analogicznego spojrzenia, które w procesie wytwarzania dostrzega odblask trynitarnego dynamizmu stwórczego. Ostatecznie tekst przekonuje, że tylko zakorzenienie ludzkiej pracy w duchowości pozwala uniknąć dehumanizacji i czyni z postępu technicznego narzędzie autentycznego rozwoju człowieka jako obrazu Boga. Alverna where he encountered the Crucified Christ to our own journey to God. In this talk he introduces St. Bonaventure and his times, relating him to St. Thomas, St. Francis, and the Franciscan Order. He explains the purpose and goal of "The Journey of the Mind to God" and how it will be used during the retreat for our own spiritual encounter with Christ.

Presented by the Lumen Christi Institute, The Philosophy Department and the Medieval Studies Workshop at the University of Chicago. This lecture situates Bonaventure's thought on education, philosophy, and the sciences into the context of the thirteenth century's controversies regarding the place of philosophy in the universities and human life generally. While Bonaventure accepts the essential and irreplaceable role of philosophy and science in the progress of human knowledge and endorses the claim that they both perfect the human intellect, he insists that science and philosophy are in a hierarchy of knowledge that transcends them, culminating in the study of Sacred Scripture, theology, and mystical vision.
Timothy B. Noone is Ordinary Professor of Philosophy at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., is also Co-Director of the Scotus Project and President of the Society for Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy (video)

At the Symposium titled "Sursum Actio" at Notre Dame Univ. in honor of the life work of Fr. Peter Damian Fehlner, F.I., from Jun 8-9, 2015, Fr. J. A. Wayne Hellmann, OFM Conv., Professor of Theology at Saint Louis University, gives the opening conference which he titles, "Charity in Bonaventure's Ecclesiology, Charity in the Eucharist" the first part of which is based on a dissertation by Fr. Peter called the "The Role of Charity in the Ecclesiology of St. Bonaventure" which gave him early inspiration for his own studies. The second part is based on distinctions 8-13 of St. Bonaventure's Commentary on the Sentences, Book IV. The talk is followed by a commentary by Fr. Peter and then a round table discussion with the other presenters. This symposium, Sursum Actio ("Lift up your Actions" or more loosely "Lift up your Hearts"), was organized in honor of the life work of Fr. Peter Damian Fehlner after he won the Cardinal John J. Wright Marialogical Award of 2015 from the Mariological Society of America for his outstanding contributions to Mariology. (video)
