We now look at the subtlety in the usage of words, in the arrangement of sentences and in the grammar.
How the words, phrases & topics were arranged in a balanced way:
> The first part: Knowing who is God and the definition of God and that is Knowledge.
> The middle part: After having knowledge of God, what Action are we to take.
> The last part is about Guidance:
1.–> Guidance which leads to people having knowledge and actions.
2.–> No guidance which leads to people having knowledge but no action.
3.–> No guidance which leads to people having actions but no knowledge.
1> The first part mentioned the definition of God.
2> The middle part mentioned the relationship between God and us (the people).
3> The 3rd part is about us with 3 categories of behavior.
Allah divided Surah Fatihah into two halves:
-> First half is about Him
* The middle of the Halves is about Him and Us. (i.e. " Only to You we worship and only to You we ask for help")
-> The 2nd half is about the slaves.
(1) The first part consists of Noun sentences (jumlah ismiyyah) – regarding Allah. Nouns are permanent. Allah is permanent.
(2) The middle ayah consists of Noun & Verb :-
To YOU (Noun-permanent) we WORSHIP (Verb-temporary)
and
To YOU (Noun-permanent) we ASK (Verb-temporary) for help.
(3) The 2nd part consists of Verb sentences (jumlah fi’liyyah) – we asking for guidance. Verbs are temporary. People are temporary.
(1) First Section
(2) Centre Ayah
(3) Second Section
We look at the Centre Ayah:
The first part of this Centre ayah : “To You we worship”
-> This is the result of the First Section of the Surah, i.e. after recognizing and thoroughly knowing who Allah is, the result is the willingness to worship Him.
The middle word = "AND"
-> This is the middle of this Ayah and also the middle of Surah Al-Fatihah based on Topics.
"AND" and not "OR" indicating that we need both sections.
The 2nd part of this Centre ayah : “To You we ask for Help”
->This is the introductory of the 2nd Section of the Surah.
The 2nd Section is the response to your asking for help which is to get guidance like the righteous people and staying away from becoming the rebellious and lost.
The first half of the Surah:
> Every person has a personal “Hamd” with Allah.
> Every person has a personal slavery with the “Robb” (Master)
> Every person has a personal mercy received from the “arRahman, arRaheem”
> Every person has a personal auditing with the “Malik”
First Half involves various personal emotional experience with the Master.
——
The Center part of the Surah :
Iyyaka (singular "You" – Only you the one)
na’budu (plural "We" – collective worship )
wa
iyyaka (singular "You" – Only you the one)
nasta’een (plural "We" – collective asking for help)
The center part involves collective relationship with Allah.
—–
The 3rd part of the Surah :
> Ihdinaa (plural "We" = collective action asking for guidance)
> 3 collective behavior of nations of people.
Last part involves collective groups of people.
To You we worship/enslave and to You we ask for help :
-> success doesn’t come from your own effort only
-> success doesn’t come from Allah’s help only while you do nothing
-> but success comes from Allah’s help and your effort.
The Extreme path = physical needs only => the people of “maghduub” (the concept of the Jews)
The Extreme path = spiritual needs only => the people of “adhaalleen” (the concept of the Christians)
Middle path = physical + spiritual needs => the people of “an’amta ‘alaihim” (the concept of the Righteous)
– Having knowledge and act according to the knowledge.
– Not extreme for the physical needs. Not extreme to the spiritual needs only.
– Constantly balancing to be standing upright (keeping to our faith). Not slanting to the right or left.
The first part = Allah mentioned that He is the Master of people
The second part = The Master is called upon by the Slaves.
The third part = Mentioning about the slaves :
“3 kinds of slaves”. In His Divine perspective, people are not divided along race or land boundaries (countries).
Master
Master and Slaves
Slaves
1- Having guidance is having direction in life.
2- People who got guidance and but ignored the guidance would get wrath. If they keep ignoring guidance surely they will be lost.
3- The opposite of guidance is getting lost in life.
Eg. You are traveling to a far away remote location. You have a map with you but you refuse to use the map. You will probably get lost.
Eg. We already have the Qur’an and Sunnah as guidance. Some ignored Guidance and perform their way of understanding the religion and performing worship with rituals that have no reference. After decades of performing those rituals, they will be a "lost" nation.
Guidance = Having direction in life
No guidance = earning wrath in life
No guidance = getting lost in life
—————————————-
The balanced between the first surah (Al-Fatihah) and the last surah (An-Naas).
The prophet would recite the first surah right after reciting the last surah.
-> First surah = Optimistic
-> Last surah = Defensive
-> First surah (Optimistic) = Praise and gratitude belong to the Master of people i.e. "Robb"
-> Last surah (defensive) = seek refuge from the Master of people i.e. "Robb"
-> First surah (Optimistic) = He is the Judge/King of people i.e. "Malik"
-> Last surah (Defensive) = seek refuge from the Judge/King of people i.e. "Malik"
-> First surah (Optimistic) = to You (God) we worship.
-> Last surah (Defensive) = We seek refuge from the God of people
-> First surah (Optimistic) = We will not be like two groups of people loosing guidance.
-> Last surah (Defensive) = We seek refuge from the evils of two species of people (the jinn syaithan and the human syaithan).
-> First surah (Optimistic) = The blessed people were people who have equipped themselves with Taqwa.
-> Last surah (Defensive) = When you have Taqwa, you will be able to escape/avoid the evils coming from the 2 species of people.
-> First surah = All the “verbs” are collective in nature (WE).
-> Last surah = All the “verbs” are personal in nature (I).
-> First surah = Social Evil = Collectively we could get evil influences (fitnah from societies) from two types of failed nations: (1) “Maghduub” and (2) “ad-Dhaalleen”
-> Last surah = Individual Evil = You could get personal evil influences from two types of sources:
= the (1) “Jin” and (2) “Naas”
It is a confirmation that the Qur’an IS the Word of God.
This surah was automatically being recited by the Messenger without prior planning. He was an illiterate man who never arrange words and sentences via writings. The balanced deep meanings of the ayaat cannot be composed by any man with no prior deep study and planning. The words just came out of him “out of the blue” at one go without any editorial process. This was revelations being put into his mouth by the Master of mankind.
