The wish of every person to prolong his/her life in this world.
When you are young, you feel that your life on earth has many more years and death is like a far away incident. You get a satisfying career, go for satisfying holidays, having a satisfying family, etc.
When you are old and retired, what is your take on life? What are you going to do?
An old and retired Atheists who do not belief in an after life and judgement day, will make a “Bucket List” of the things that they would want to do before the time comes to leave this world. Most of the items in the list will be one of continuing finding experiences and enjoyment. Live life to the fullest, embrace all your desires before you have no more time left because he believed that life ends once you die.
What if you are old and contracted a deadly desease? You need to go for surgery inorder to have a chance at survival. You would want to survive the surgery and be cured from this desease so that you can prolong your life. Why do you want to prolong your life? What is the purpose of prolonging your life? Is it about getting more entertainment?
What if the Doctor estimated on his Atheist patient that he has only 2 years more to live? What is he going to do in those two years? He will concentrate on the “Quality” of life since he cannot have an “Extension” of life. How do you understand what is “Quality” in life? Usually the “Bucket List” idea will come into his mind to fulfill whatever the world could offer to feed the desire.
What is “Quality” of life in the mind of a Believer? The life spent in this world before death is to prepare and accumulate anything that will be beneficial for the life after death. It will seem like a boring life for an Atheist. Living in this world is just a short temporary stay. It will be a very long journey after death before judgement day. After death, each person will be living in the “Barzakh” depending on how long he died before “Qiyamah” (Resurrection). Next he will be living through judgement day, waiting & quieng at the “field of Mashar” to be placed in front of the Scale. All your deeds are put on the scale and those beneficial deeds that you have done are the ones that can save you. You will either go into the eternal life of Paradise or Hell. That is a tremendous long time and the preparation for it is now by having actual quality time that will benefit you in the hereafter.
