BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Directed by: Bill Condon

Distributed by: Walt Disney Studios

Release Date: 23 March 2017

Beauty and the Beast is another classic Disney film that captivates both the young and older audiences. The film features Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, and a supporting cast of talented actors.

In the beginning, we are introduced to Belle (Emma Watson) who is singing about how backward her village is. Then, the whole village starts to sing along with her with perfect harmony and choreography. We are also introduced to LeFou (Josh Gad) and Gaston (Luke Evans) as they had just come back home from the war. If you have already seen this film, then you would know that Gaston is very attracted to Belle. Towards the end of the song, the village sings about how weird and strange Belle is, but they also call her “beauty”. Actually, the name Belle means beauty in French. This is probably the reason why Gaston likes Belle so much.

One of my favourite parts of the film is when Belle gets really angry at Gaston for calling Beast a monster. “He’s not the monster Gaston, you are!” is what Belle tells Gaston with pure rage. This is towards the end of the film where the villagers, led by Gaston, have come to murder the beast. On the other hand, LeFou and Mrs. Potts somehow team up to fight the angry villagers.

I think the best scene of the film is when Gaston falls off the bridge in the west wing in his attempt to kill Beast! What a way to die!!! Honestly, I thought he deserved it because he was so mean to everyone.

Emma Watson as Belle

Now, back to Belle. She may be a farm girl, but she is actually the one who breaks the curse of Beast. How cool is that? How did she do it? It's like this...First, Beast falls in love with Belle, and then she falls in love with him. And when a girl falls in love with Beast despite his scary looks and violent tendencies, the curse would be broken.

This movie is extremely entertaining as it showcases a lot of singing and dancing. In addition, John Legend and Ariana Grande sing the theme song of the film, Tale as Old as Time. What a treat! Watch the video below to see what I mean.

This review has been fun. I definitely give Beauty and the Beast a 5/5. Well, until next time Nagle.
