book review

Feyre teaches us to have our own opinion and to put our words into motion without fear.

A Court of Thorns and Roses series has four exceptionally well written, breathtaking novels composed by the super creative Sarah J. Maas. This romantically edgy book series is the holy grail of fantasy fiction. Not only does each book leave you on the edge wanting a little more but each one gives a new element of surprise and adds to the thrilling experience of the novels.

Sarah. J. Maas has created characters unlike other authors. Each one possessing different traits that add to the stories' enthusiastic plot and its twists. The author placed the novels in a split society where the interactions between humans and the creatures beyond the wall is limited.

The main character Feyre, is one who lives on the outskirts of her village, living on the scraps of her society. She then becomes the one to cross the boundary of the wall and enter a realm that she doesn't know, all because she slaughters a wolf. Feyre is assigned to live a life sentence inside the wall for a crime she commits against the creatures beyond the wall.

By entering the realm she enters a world of chaos and deception all wrapped up with a bow of romance. Once mortal, Feyre enters the majestic realm of the main male character, Tamlins. It then presents a juxtaposition of the characters' world, with Feyre’s strong, and poise identity and Tamlins' secretive and dominating ways. These novels progress into an outburst of lust, betrayal and romantic love triangle. This imposes the question, who does the independent Feyre begin to depend on? And to what extent does the desire for powerful love drive each character to do the unthinkable to themselves and each other? These engaging series is recommended for those individuals who love in the genres of romance and fantasy, and STRICTLY FOR SENIOR STUDENTS ONLY as these novels have graphic scenes.

I’m in love with the series and the characters along with it. It’s not only one of the most thrill-seeking novels ever written, but also one that has not followed the stereotypical cliche of romance-fantasy stories. I believe the author has done an impeccable job with creating a series of a lifetime.
