book review

Sarah taught us that some things we hear with our ears, others we hear with our heart.

Crown of Midnight is a Throne of Glass novel by the wonderful Sarah J. Maas. It is about a young woman called Celaena Sardothien who is the royal assassin, the King’s deadliest weapon! This book certainly gets you on the edge of your seat as there are many exciting events that occur throughout the entire novel.

My favourite part of the book is when Celaena decides to “push the princess’ buttons” a bit. In this part, Nehemia, who is the the princess, and Celaena have a bit of an argument as to whether or not Celaena should stop running away from her past and just start moving on with her life. Celaena thinks she should just keep doing what she’s doing as she hasn’t been caught yet, but Nehemia on the other hand tells her to stop running away and start moving forward because if she just keeps running she will eventually have nowhere else to run. This is where is gets really intense as Nehemia tells Celaena, without fear, that she is nothing but a coward! I know right? No one ever talks to Celaena like that ever! If they did, they’d get their head chopped off within a second or even less.

My least favourite part of this novel is when Celaena leaves Chaol to return to her home. Somewhere in this novel they have an argument. I don’t want to spoil what actually happens because you have to read the book to find out. When Celaena says “I’m sorry” at the end, it feels like she doesn’t want to see him anymore.

Overall, I think Crown of Midnight is a great novel. Great job Sarah J.Maas! I give this book 4 stars for all of its’ wonderful themes and exciting events that occur throughout the book. I recommend this book for anyone who loves adventure, action, or a bit of mischief. I hope you fellow readers out there read Crown of Midnight and be entertained. You may get hooked, I definitely did.
