Uncle Ben taught us that with great power comes great responsibility.

spider-man: Homecoming

Directed by: Jon Watts

Released by: Marvel Studios

Release Date: 6 July 2017

Spider-Man Homecoming is the perfect reincarnation of the classic friendly neighbourhood superhero. Marvel has done a wonderful job in recreating Spider-Man in simply every aspect. Unlike the other Spider-Man films where Gwen is practically the only thing on Peter’s mind, Marvel brought in some variety and changed the love interest from Gwen Stacy to the phenomenal Avengers. To be honest, I think everyone enjoyed the change.

Adding a 15 year old Peter Parker in the Avengers is one of Tony Stark’s best decisions. We should also take this chance to applaud Tom Holland’s excellent acting performance, doing his own stunts and overall being simply amazing! Marvel also had obviously done its research on the teenage psyche because they captured the 15-year old essence perfectly well…so perfect that

it is somewhat creepy. Marvel fans can all proudly admit that Tony is a great dad, and Peter is a great son, and this shows they’re a family that deserves all the love. Spider-Man Homecoming has a consistent plot, that is withheld during the entire movie. All the so called ‘unnecessary’ scenes came together and painted a bigger and ‘badder’ picture. It came together flawlessly as viewers watch Peter try and balance his hero and ordinary life. All throughout the movie, humour was loosely thrown around in there...never disappointing it’s viewers with a smile. Its casual humour is one of the many reasons why viewers enjoyed the movie in the first place.

But towards the end you finally see reality crashing down, just like the roof on top of Peter’s head. Peter’s stubborn and defiant attitude does nothing but prove that Peter is in fact still a kid, and that he is willing to sacrifice his ordinary life for the sake of defeating bad guys (and hanging out with the Avengers).

That one moment captured Peter’s pure unadulterated vulnerability and strength. It was a scene that touched my heart and many others. Although the classics are fantastic, the remixes are so much better. Just like Spider-Man Homecoming. I give this 10/10.
