BOOK REVIEW

Kiera taught us that it's always the fear of looking stupid that stops us from being awesome.

Hello my fellow readers,

It is time for yet another one of my book reviews.

As you have probably noticed I have been doing lots of romantic reviews on books that I feel are important to read if you love romantic novels. I love romance novels so you have come to the wrong link if you don't want a romantic review.

The Selection by Kiera Cass is a book not only about falling in love but it is also about finding out what kind of person you want to be.

Let's start with the plot line… 35 girls all fighting for the heart of one man (it's The Bachelor but with a prince), it's the opportunity of a lifetime, an escape from their already laid out lives depending on their caste (a rank that goes from 1-8). Everyone chosen has the chance to win Prince Maxon's heart and move up to the highest caste...royalty.

However, this opportunity can be a nightmare for some, this being the protagonist America. America has been chosen but she doesn't want to fight for the prince, she wants to stay with her family and be with the love of her life, Aspen, who she isn't allowed to love as he is the caste below her (I personally liked him, but I liked Maxon more).

Leaving her family she is forced to fight for the crown she doesn't want and a castle that is constantly in danger. Then she meets Prince Maxon, I can't say it was love at first sight (for her) but she starts to question who she is, and the love she has back home. Moreover, she wonders about the life she had before that is becoming a distant memory.

Ok, with the plot out of the way let's talk about the characters.

America is a headstrong girl with a short temper, who doesn't mind speaking her mind. Throughout the book she grows as a character from being naive and a bit whiny to a strong woman who puts others before herself. I feel like Cass created America in a really good way wherein she shows other females that you don't just need a man, all you need is to trust your abilities and put others before yourself.

Maxon as we expect is a stuck up and arrogant person who, because he is a prince, has everything. However, believe it or not, he is quite the opposite! He is kind and generous and mostly misunderstood. In most books that you read princes are rude and think that they are above everyone. Prince Maxon is by far what a Prince Charming is, he is selfless especially with the other girls and saving one from getting executed because of who she loved. By far he is my favourite prince in a book.

The Selection by Kiera Cass is a very good book and I would recommend you rush into the library and borrow it! I know that you will all love it because of how connected you get to EVERY individual character.

I rate this book ⅘! Happy reading!
