It is important that we record accurately all leave taken by staff
The leave calculations are based on 40hours/ per week
Paid leave:
5 sick days
10 paid vacation leave credits a year which will start to accrue only after 6 months from commencement of employment.
Public Regular holidays include Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, the ninth of April, the first of May, the twelfth of June, National Heroes Day, the first of November, the thirtieth of November, the twenty-fifth and the thirtieth of December, the thirty-first of December, and the day designated by law for holding a general election.
Unpaid leave
Paid leave:
Sick leave - this type of leave is for when an employee is ill or injured and needs time off to recover
Vacation leave - this is the standard paid time off that employees accrue over time. It allows them to take a break from work for personal reasons, usually for relaxation, travel, or personal commitments.
Unpaid leave - this is an option for employees to take extended time off without pay for personal reasons, such as extended travel or sabbaticals

Nature of Time Off
Leave: This is individualized and taken by employees based on their accrued entitlements for personal reasons like vacations, illness, or personal matters.
Year-end break: A company-wide or organization-wide decision to close operations or grant time off during a specific period, often for holidays or to mark the end of the year.
Entitlement and Approval
Leave: Employees request and use leave based on their accrued entitlements, subject to company policies and supervisor approval.
Year-end break: It's a predetermined period announced by the company where employees are typically not required to use their accrued leave and are collectively given time off.
Duration and Timing
Leave: Can be taken at various times throughout the year, depending on an employee's accrued leave balance and company policy.
Year-end break: Often occurs around the end of the calendar year (December), though some organizations might choose different periods, and it's usually a set period of consecutive days or weeks.
Unused annual and sick leaves shall be carried over from the present year to the next.
Each employee can carry a maximum of 15 leaves from year to year. Any excess leave may be forfeited unless approved otherwise.
Employees should use accrued leave responsibly and in compliance with company policies.
Upon termination, retirement, or at other specified intervals, employees will be eligible for a payout of accrued but unused annual leave days up to a maximum limit of XX days
Typically our office is closed from 24 December -> 5 January
Have a look at the calendar and try and take your leave when:
Quiet time of year (not many engagements, MAG programs etc)
Other staff are not taking leave at the same time
Try and give as much notice as possible when requesting leave
Busy time of year
Other staff have already taken leave at that time
Midway through important project/ deadline
Ideally no!
If we do a good job of handover of tasks and set the rest of the team up for success while you are leave you should not be needed.
However! the business needs to keep running and if there is a CRITICAL item that needs your attention (ie the rest of the team cannot progress without your input), you will be contacted on Google chat (or Voxer) and if you have phone reception, you will be required to resolve the issue within 24hours.
Please leave your laptop at the office and ensure Manager has all login details to turn on your laptop if needed

Inform manager on remote work dates you plan to take
Give as much notice as you can
Block off time in calendar for the whole team to know
When working remotely, be conscious of meeting times. Communicate as much as possible about your situation if you cant be on time.
Find a good place with good internet connections and convenient workspace.
