There is a heap of tabs and information available on Xero.com and it is easy to get overwhelmed. We have synthesised the most relevant info to help you conduct your book keeping function.
Once you have logged into XERO.COM, you will see there are five main dropdown menus:
1. Dashboard
Your dashboard displays a snapshot of your organisation's financials and transactions entered in Xero.
You can customise your dashboard to suit your needs.
2. Business
Business snapshot is a dashboard-style report displaying performance measures to help you understand your organisation's financial position.
Mainly used for assessing aged receivables
3. Accounting
A number of useful reports to understand MAGs cashflow and financial position
Most useful report -> P&L
4. Payroll
This dropdown menu is used for processing staff wages, leave, timesheets etc
5. Contacts
Directory of all customers and suppliers
Invoicing
Bank reconciliation
Payroll
Creating new employees data entry
Process payroll
Pay superannuation
Issue payslips
Approve timesheets
Approve leave requests (not casuals)
Timesheets
Pay BAS/ IAS (Accountant will send forms to sign and amount to be paid)
ASIC compliance
Accounting structure/ strategy advice
Lodge BAS/ IAS

To add new users to your organisation, your user role needs to include the manage users permission. It's free of charge to add users, including your accountant, to your organisation.
If you need to invite an employee into My Payroll, do this from the Payroll screen instead.
Click on the organisation name, select Settings, then click Users.
Click Invite a user.
Enter the new user's first name, last name and email address. The email address you send the invite to will be the user's login email address.
Select which features you want them to access, and a user role for each feature.
(Optional) Click Add a personal message, then enter an email message. You can include a link to our support article on how to accept or decline a Xero invite.
Click Send Invite.
The new user must accept the invite within 14 days, or the link will no longer work.

If you’re a new Xero user
From the invite email, click the link.
Click Accept Invite.
Enter your details, then create and confirm your password.
Once you’ve read and understood our Terms of use and Privacy notice, select the checkbox to confirm you agree.
Click Create.
