Well done on the research you carried out last week! There have been some fantastic posts sharing your learning!

This week our focus is on being able to DEMONSTRATE the tidal movement and how it is linked to the Moon's gravitational pull on Earth.

1. Think:

with a team of 3 or 4 people, be creative and discuss what ways you can demonstrate this fact. Will you draw? Role play? Record a movie using iPad or Chromebook? Google slides? A live presentation given by your team?

2. Do:

Carry out what your group decides on.

3. Blog post:

Blog about what your team created and presented to the class.

2. How do tides work?

1. Phases of the moon

Well done on the research you carried out last week! There have been some fantastic posts sharing your learning!

This week our focus is on 'THE MOON'S location in our solar system.

The moon has it's own gravitational pull. It says about 1/6 of the earth's pull. Your task this week will focus on:

1. The phases of the moon:

a. Task 1

Learn what the phases of the moon are called. What does waning and waxing mean in relation to the moon??

b. The Moon's appearance relate to the amount of its illuminated surface we can see. This is determined by the relative positions of the Earth, Moon and Sun. Explore the solar system.

Task 2:

create your own model of the solar system that explains where the moon, earth and sun and other planets are located!

Present your findings any way you choose.

Be creative, how will you capture your audience and pass on information you find out? Ideas: you act like a reporter, interview, google presentation, iPad for movie. Post on your blog to share with the world!

2. The planets 'in scale'.

Well done on the research you carried out last week! There have been some fantastic posts sharing your learning!

This week our focus is on 'THE MOON'. It's your turn to research and find out more about the following.

The moon has it's own gravitational pull. It says about 1/6 of the earth's pull. Your task this week:

1. Explore what makes up the moon in terms of

a. environment

b. matter

c. atmosphere

d. distance from earth

e. first human to land on moon (name of person and space shuttle, time and date)

f. anything you find to be super interesting about the moon or it's visitors!

Present your findings any way you choose.

Be creative, how will you capture your audience and pass on information you find out? Ideas: you act like a reporter, interview, google presentation, iPad for movie. Post on your blog to share with the world!

3. Wax on wax off ;)

3. Crash course of the moon (extended version)

1. Gravity keeps us on Earth

2. Defining Gravity Video

Well done on the research you carried out last week! There have been some fantastic posts sharing your learning!

This week our focus is on 'GRAVITY'. It's your turn to research and find out more about the following.

Present your findings any way you choose.

Be creative, how will you capture your audience and pass on information you find out? Ideas: you act like a reporter, interview, google presentation, iPad for movie. Post on your blog to share with the world!

1. What is the gravitational force like on earth?

2. What is the gravitational force like on the Moon?

3. How about Mars or Venus?

4. What would happen if the gravitational force weakened on earth? Pick two aspects of life today that would change. What would be the impact on human life? The environment?

*Think about our weight? Buildings? Way of life? Transport?

3. Down to Earth Video

Week 1& 2

Guardians of the Galaxy

Animate your 'I wonder' question.

Make it simple but fun!

Your animation must include the following:

1. Animation of the focus of your 'I wonder' question. For example if question is 'I wonder why stars twinkle?' Your animation will show a twinkling star - it's that easy!

2. A clear voice recording of you stating what your 'I wonder' question is.

3. What the researched answer is

4. What your made up answer is

People are curious beings! After our immersion assembly and our reading this week what are you now curious about. What do you now wonder about in relation to space - our science inquiry?

Make a list with a partner. Use a google presentation with eye catching fonts to state your top 10 'I wonder' questions related to this term's science inquiry.
