Week 9
Your Mission - Create 2 - 3 QUALITY pieces of writing about anything you want. Your writing could be:
- a recount (telling a story about past events/ something that happened)
- an explanation (explaining how something works or how it came to be)
- a narrative (telling a made up story)
- or anything else you would like e.g a diary entry, a recipe etc
Instructions
- Select which style of writing you will be creating for
- Double check the structure for that style of writing
- Start writing
- Check in with your teacher when called
- Edit your work as you go
- Check your writing against the QUALITY WRITING CHECKLIST
- Post it on your blog
Quality writing check list
1 - Correct use of punctuation - full stops, capital letters, commas etc
2 - Consistent tense throughout writing
3 - Each sentence makes sense
4 - Use of paragraphs
5 - Correct structure for that style of writing
6 - Use interesting/precise/descriptive vocabulary
7 - Suitable and interesting for your readers

Week 8
WALT - Edit our writing
Instructions
1 - Meet with your teacher when called
2 - Make a copy of your explanation writing sample about a special place in the community.
3 - Read it very carefully and check the following:
- CAPITAL letters and full stops are used correctly.
- Every sentence makes sense. (Read your writing out loud to yourself to help with this).
- Every paragraph contains 1 idea and supporting detail - Watch the paragraph video
4 - Post your edited writing along with your original on your blog - Make sure you include a blurb explaining the difference between the two.
5 - Finish your work from last week - make sure it is ALL filed and turned in.

Week 6 & 7
WALT - Identify & write simple and compound sentences
Instructions
1 - Copy, file and turn in the 'Simple & Compound sentence' presentation.
2 -Complete the presentation with your teacher.
3 - Watch the videos.
4 - With your new knowledge write an explanation piece of writing
titled 'Why is my role model. Use the plan and writing template below. Make sure you have simple & compound sentences in your writing.
5 - Highlight and simple sentence in RED and any compound sentence
BLUE.
6 - Post your FINISHED writing on your blog along with a paragraph explaining why some sentences are highlighted.

It's now 2017 and you are all in a new year group. It's time to update your blog profile so that it is accurate, relevant, interesting and cybersmart.
While it's great to let people now information about you it's important that you are smart about the information you give out.
Task
1 - Make a copy of the blog profile activity
2- File it in your WRITING folder and TURN IT IN
3- Work through the activity with your teacher
4- Once you have finished your teacher will update your blog
