We are working on learning the capitals and the countries for the 20 Spanish speaking countries world wide. They are:

        • Distrito Federal-Mexico, Guatemala-Guatemala, San Salvador-El lSalvador, Tegucigalpa -Honduras, Managua-Nicaragua, San Jose-Costa Rica, Panama-Panama, La Habana-Cuba, Santo Domingo-Republica Dominicana, San Juan -Puerto Rico, Buenos Aires -Argentina, Caracas-Venezuela, Bogata-Colombia, Quito-Ecuador, Lima-Peru, Santiago-Chile, La Paz-Bolivia, Asuncion-Paraguay, Montevideo-Uruguay, Madrid-Espana. Students received a packet which will help students to know the capitals, countries, and nationalities as well as where these countries are found.

Students continued to practice conversing with each other. Here is today's dialogue:

A: Hola. Me llamo Luis. Como te llamas tu?

B: Hola. Me llamo Carlos.

A: De donde eres Carlos?

B: Yo soy de Chile. De donde eres tu?

A: Yo soy de Argentina. Mucho gusto Carlos.

B: El gusto es mio Luis. Adios.

A: Adios, hasta luego.

We began working on the alphabet today. We went over the correct pronunciation of all letters, students practiced spelling names by using their own name as a guide, we later did a walk around activity using fictional names. If student was absent, they would do well to grab an alphabet cheat chart and the names of chicos/chicas in order to practice at home.

Lastly, we worked on understanding whether to use buenos dias, buenas tardes, or buenas noches. We worked on understanding whether to use como estas tu or como esta usted, and we worked on knowing whether to respond estoy bien (I am well), estoy mas o menos (I am so-so) or lastly estoy mal I am not doing well. This entire activity was done on 1 card, and was done as a pass along. Any student who missed class can come see me at lunch and I can get them caught up in a 1/2 hour of 1 on 1 attention.
