today's agenda:

    • We discussed as a class how to use gustar (to like) with nouns. I explained that gustar will always be either gusta or gustan with nouns depending on whether or not the noun is singular or plural. This concept is illustrated on page 145. If the noun in the sentence is singular we use gusta-for example; me gusta el cereal, me gusta el yogur, me gusta la pizza, me gusta el beisbol, me gusta la clase de espanol. If the noun in the sentence is plural we use gustan-for example; me gustan las frutas, me gustan los vegetales, me gustan los deportes, me gustan los libros de accion. Once the students had an idea as to what they were doing, I gave them a multitude of questions which they answered. Here is a sampling of the questions and answers.

Te gusta la musica country? Si me gusta la musica country.

Te gustan los deportes? Si me gustan los deportes.

Te gusta la clase de ciencia? No, no me gusta la clase de ciencia.

Te gustan las papas fritas de McDonalds? Si, me gustan muchisimo las papas fritas de McDonalds.

Te gusta la playa de Pismo? Si me gusta la playa de Pismo.

Once we finished practicing the question and answer session (approximately 50 questions), the students were given a worksheet titled A Ernesto le gusta (n)....On this worksheet the students have to state whether Ernesto le gusta or Ernesto le gustan. This worksheet was turned in for graded credit. For some reason this worksheet is not in my computer so if you were absent you'll need to ask for the worksheet.

Once we finished gustar with nouns we returned to work with interrogatives. Last Thursday/Friday students received an introductory dialogue between Marcos and Esteban that was used to present some of the more important interrogatives. We read the dialogue in pairs and then we discussed it as a class. For today, our focus was on two interrogatives-Como and Cual. The students were given practice worksheets to further their understanding of these two interrogatives. I have attached both the interrogative worksheets for you to print and study.
