Today's agenda:

    • We continue to work on 5.1, vocabulary about the house and items in the house. I am attaching some of the important vocabulary and the power point.

    • Students played battleship to practice verb conjugation and the rooms in the house. Students can pick this worksheet up from me if they wish to practice.

    • We presented ordinal numbers today for first, second, third, fourth and fifth. I used my family (my brothers and sisters) as a model to help the students understand how we can use ordinal numbers in Spanish. I am attaching my model to the website so students can get an idea of how the ordinal numbers can be used.

1st-primer/primero/primera

2nd-segundo/segunda

3rd-tercer/tercero/tercera

4th-cuarto/cuarta

5th-quinto/quinta

En mi familia hay 5 niños.

Michael (57)

Julie (54)

Chris (54)

Mark (53)

Donna (47)

Mi hermano Michael es el primer niño y es el primer hijo. Es el mayor

Mi hermana Julie es la segunda niña, pero es la primera hija.

Mi hermano Chris es el tercer niño, pero es el segundo hijo.

Yo soy el cuarto niño, pero soy el tercer hijo.

Mi hermana Donna es la quinta niña, pero es la segunda hija. Ella es la menor.

    • As a follow up, I used my wife's family and had the students make a similar "mini paragraph" to the one above using her siblings as a guide. Here is the information they had to work with:

Jason (54)

Jan (52)

Jeff (56)

John (58)

Jill (51)

Their paragraph should have read:

John es el primer nino y el primer hijo.

Jeff es el segundo nino y el segundo hijo.

Jason es el tercer nino y el tercer hijo.

Jan es la cuarta nina y la primera hija.

Jill is la quinta nina y la segunda hija.

    • Students worked on learning the house vocabulary-Spanish to English. I have attached the vocabulary and the power point so students can work on vocabulary. We also reread the "Casa de Senor Trotter" in both Spanish and English.

    • Lastly, we watched both scene 1 and 2 of the 5.1 Telehistorias. We will continue next week with 5.1 in the book, focusing on rooms and items in the house, ordinal numbers, and the verbs ser and estar and how and when to use each.
