Today's agenda:

Mexico is the world’s 15th largest economy

Mexico’s most common foods are rice, beans, tortillas, tacos, tamales, and enchiladas

What is the jardín principal (83)? It is a tree-lined park in the center of town, in San Miguel de Allende, México. People like to visit the park to stroll, listen to live music, and spend time with family and friends.

What is Chichen Itza (83)? It is an ancient Mayan city. People often go there to visit the ruins of structures which were built for worship, sports, and studying astronomy.

What is UNAM (83)? it is the la Universidad Nacional Autónoma. It is one of the oldest universities in the Americas, and the largest public university in México. The library’s mosaic mural depicts moments in the cultural history of Mexico.

What is an “uniforme escolar” (92)? This word means school uniform. In Mexico, it is common for students to wear uniforms in both public and private schools.

What is the alfabetización (97)? It is a mural painted by Diego Rivera. It took him four years to paint it, sometimes painting 18 hours per day. It is painted in vivid colors and simplified lines and it illustrates the importance education has in the lives of the Mexicans. Diego was commissioned by the Mexican government to paint murals about Mexico’s history. Between 1920 and 1924, more than 1,000 schools were established in rural areas to teach children to read and study subjects such as history and math.
