WHAT: The Urban Journalism Workshop at New York University is designed to develop the next generation of great journalists. A diverse group of 20 high school juniors and seniors attending schools throughout the five boroughs of New York City or in nearby suburbs of the Tri-State metropolitan region (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut only) will come together to spend seven days attending an intensive and rewarding journalism “boot-camp” held at the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University.
WHERE: Students are housed in NYU residential dorms during the entirety of their program.

NOVAEDGE DIVERSITY IN ENGINEERING (UNPAID)
WHO: Current 9th, 10th, 11th Graders
WHAT: NovaEdge Diversity in Engineering is a one-week, on-campus program to introduce a diverse population of students from different ethnic and social backgrounds to the traditional fields of engineering, including Chemical, Civil and Environmental, Computer and Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. Students also will be introduced to unique aspects of Villanova’s College of Engineering, which include international service learning, Sustainable Engineering and Engineering Entrepreneurship. Lectures and hands-on laboratory experiments are taught by Villanova Engineering faculty, and daily guest speakers will bridge academia and industry. During the evening, students will enjoy fun and engaging activities with resident assistants and also work on any assigned engineering projects.
In addition to this introduction to engineering, the NovaEdge program includes a presentation on the college admissions process.
Participants stay on campus during this one-week summer program.
Parents/guardians are responsible for student transportation to and from campus. Villanova University will provide transportation for students who arrive on an airport flight only.
The program cost of $775 must be paid in full once the student is selected into the program.
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.
- Students will stay in a student hall on main campus.

Work Experiences: Young people aged 16–24 improve their work readiness skills and explore career pathways through paid summer jobs in a variety of industries throughout NYC

THE URBAN LEADERSHIP FELLOWS PROGRAM (PAID)
WHO: High School Seniors
WHAT: The Urban Leadership Fellows (ULF) Program is a collaboration between The Municipal Forum of New York, Inc., and Futures and Options, which enables New York City students to gain valuable hands-on work experience and training in the Municipal Finance industry. This immersive six week summer program exposes graduating high school seniors to the Municipal Finance industry through supported, paid summer internships.
The ULF program emphasizes the following: internships and training in municipal finance, one-on-one mentorship, networking activities, and supplemental workshops. Each week focuses on one particular area of interest, including: bond school, issuer & financial advising, legal, rating agencies and insurers, investment banking, and investing.

YOUTH INTERNSHIPS AT WAVE HILL (PAID)
WHO: High School Students
WHAT: Wave Hill is committed to building and empowering an inclusive youth community. We encourage individuals who reflect the diversity of New York City to apply for our paid internships. To support personal and professional growth, we prepare our interns for future studies and careers related to science, art, and education. Three separate internships are available for youth seeking hands on experience in ecological restoration, research methods, community engagement, and arts education. The Woodland Ecology Research Mentorship internship is a14-month experience offering the unique opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of ecological principles and science research methods. The Forest Project internship offers the opportunity to learn about ecological restoration and urban ecology through hands-on field experiences and dynamic, field-based coursework. The Art, Community, Education and Science internship is a year-long program that explores the connections between community engagement and science-informed, informal arts education.
