THE FUTURE TEACHERS PROGRAM WITH YOUNG MINDS IN MOTION (PAID)
WHO: High school students
WHAT: Are you a high school senior interested in becoming a teacher? The Future Teachers Program with Young Minds in Young Minds in Motion
offers a paid, hands-on experience in early childhood and elementary education. Students will work alongside certified educators, attend career development workshops, and receive mentorship to support their journey into the teaching profession. The program is completely free to students and also provides opportunities to earn scholarships for college.
WHERE: It is held on an ongoing basis in Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Harlem.
WHEN: Internship would begin Summer 2025 and run through June 2026

YOUTH FOOD ADVOCATES (PAID)
WHO: High school students currently 9th, 10th, 11th Graders
WHAT: Youth Food Advocates (YFA) is a 10-month internship program for young people who are interested in systemic change in New York City food systems, with a focus on school food.
The YFA internship is ideal for young people interested in:
Becoming school food experts
Gaining advocacy skills
Learning about and improving NYC food policy
Making an impact in their school communities and citywide
This year, our youth leaders:
Conducted citywide qualitative observations across 15 high school campuses
Traveled to Albany to support Healthy School Meals for All NY Kids campaign
Presented their research results and recommendations to audiences across the city
And so much more!

WHEN: From September through June, YFA interns meet weekly virtually and a minimum of four times in-person to plan, organize, and participate in campaign actions and coalition activities.

WHAT: Harlem Teen Shakespeare Intensive (HTSI) is a summer program in partnership with Classical Theatre of Harlem that gives young dreamers an opportunity to learn about the performing arts and create original works. Participants will learn about theater, acting and movement from professional actors, filmmakers and other industry pros, then collaborate on their own productions.

INTRODUCTION TO ARCHITECTURE ONLINE: FOUNDATION STUDIES AND PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (UNPAID)

WHAT: The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture of The Cooper Union is proud to announce our 2025 summer intensive program that features a virtual curriculum accessible to students worldwide. As an institution that is committed to the pursuit of excellence and learning, we view our current circumstances as an opportunity to advance our thinking through radical experimentation between various forms of online engagements, digital interface, virtual modeling and representation techniques. The pleasure of making and experimentation are fundamental to our discovery of architecture and the innovation of the discipline, as well as a deeply thoughtful form of social and cultural dialogue where the imaginary becomes possible.
This five-week intensive is designed to familiarize students with architectural thinking and design while developing a portfolio of projects. Students who attend the program and successfully complete all of the assignments will receive an official Certificate of Completion from The Cooper Union.

WHAT: Clear Direction Mentoring (CDM) is a FREE mentorship program dedicated to increasing diversity and inclusion in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine (STEMM) fields by providing 1-on-1, group, and peer mentorship support to outstanding high school students from underrepresented backgrounds in STEMM.
