WHO: Any high school student
WHAT: a collaborative internship where interns will develop their democratic competency. Interns participate in civic actions, organize voter registration and turnout projects in their communities, perform targeted outreach, engage in advocacy and activism, find and participate in volunteer opportunities together, attend the TurnUp Speaker Series, as well as do civic and activism related research and writing. Most importantly, they will work together to advocate for issues important to young people, fight voter suppression and boost youth voter turnout in the United States. Upon completion, interns are prepared to go forward being civically responsible and engaged activists.

THE RANGER CONSERVATION CORPS INTERNSHIP (PAID)
WHO: After school opportunity for identifying young women and gender expansive youth from 9 - 12th grade
WHAT:a year-round paid afterschool and summer fellowship program for high school students who have a professional interest in theatre (no prior experience necessary,) and an interest in using theatre as a tool for building community and advocating for people and places in their city. Through weekly in-person and virtual meetings, field trips, guest speakers, attending live theatre productions and professional development opportunities, participants in the Urban Explorers Theatre Fellowship program will learn about a variety of theatre techniques in devising and writing original pieces--from documentary to site-specific to forum theatre playwriting. The program will culminate with the creation of original work. Explorers will each receive a stipend of $300 for successfully participating in Semester 1, and a stipend of $500 for participating in Semester 2 (summer program), for a total of $800 if they participate in both semesters. Additionally, the program will provide academic career counseling and professional development, individualized mentorship, college and job recommendation letters, and a certificate of program completion. The program will also provide opportunities for fellows to prepare for entrance into additional theatre arts programs and collegiate programs.

Rocking the Boat Apprenticeship Program (Paid)
WHO: 9th and 10th grade students
WHAT: Participants develop pride, purpose, and possibility by learning the unique and lifelong skills behind building and rowing wooden boats, sailing, and restoring the Bronx River. We create community, teach through transformative experiences, and make nature available to everyone, inspiring young people to determine their own future against a backdrop of systemic inequity.

WHAT: high school juniors and seniors make up our Usher Corps, an award-winning, rigorous year-to-year creative youth development program that offers: Flexible paid employment, Personal and professional growth, A supportive team of young adults from across the city, Professional training and workshops, Hands-on work with kids and families in a friendly, fast-paced environment and Opportunities to see live theater from around the world. Our season schedules include day, evening and weekend shifts and over 30 workshops. Ushers must work a three-shift minimum weekly and are eligible for pay increases after completing each program year.

AHRC NEW YORK CITY’S ADVANCE AND EARN PROGRAM (PAID)
WHO: High School Students 16 and older
WHAT: a free program that pays you to start your career. Offered through Staten Island Workforce Development Center, Advance & Earn helps jumpstart the careers of New York residents through comprehensive High School Equivalency test preparation, (GED), employer-recognized training, credentials and certifications, and paid internships. $150 weekly stipend or paid internship ($15/hour for up to 250 hours) and Daily lunch, metro card, and laptop or tablet if needed.
