GOOGLE CODING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE IN-PERSON LAB PROGRAM (UNPAID)
WHO: Highschool Students
WHAT: Code Next is a free, computer science education program that meets Black, Latinx and Indigenous students in their own communities and provides the skills and inspiration they need for long and rewarding careers in tech and computer science-related elds. Code Next Labs are physical labs where students come in person to learn about all things computer science-related. If you have any further questions, please reach out to codenext@google.com. This program starts in Fall 2024.
Accepted Students Gain Access To:
The Code Next Lab (micro-kitchen of snacks, 3-d printers, laser cutter, tech equipment, free meals on program days

WHO: Highschool Students
WHAT: The Tech Flex Leaders (TFL) Program is an immersive out-of-school time program for juniors and seniors enrolled in a New York City, Los Angeles, or Miami high school. Students who complete the program earm a $1000 stipend. This program engages students interested in technology through:
Weekly technical training sessions taught by industry experts
Intersectional professional development sessions designed to prepare students to confidently pursue degrees and careers in technology
Career days and mentorship opportunities with representatives from leading technology companies
Program Schedule:
The Tech Flex Leaders program meets once a week for 9 months. Cohort options are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday OR Thursday from 4:30 - 7:00 PM.
Students are required to attend two (2) mandatory Office Hours over the course of the semester to connect with program leadership.
Student orientation will take place in-person.
Technical sessions begin in September. Most sessions will take place via Zoom. Some Technical Sessions, Demo Days and Graduations will be held in-person. Applicants should be able to attend sessions in-person three (3) times a semester.

WHO: New York City LGBTQ+ teens ages 14–19
WHAT: New York City teens create community programming grounded in art and activism, collaborating in program design, organizing activities, and promoting young artists who are changing the world. Get paid $16 per hour. Second-year Teen Night Planning Committee members serve as leaders in the program and are paid $17 per hour. Work up to 75 hours for the year! MetroCards will be provided to support weekend and evening work.
Teen Night Planning Committee members:
Learn about the social movements and political organizing efforts affecting youth today
Meet educators, artists, and curators to learn about art, public programming, and the Brooklyn Museum’s collections
Plan, organize, and lead free, large-scale events for New York City teens
Activate social media to connect teens with art and current events
Promote Teen Night and other programs to teens across New York City, especially in Brooklyn
Connect with emerging artists and performers
Strengthen communication, collaboration, time management, organizational, and event-planning skills

WHEN: The program will take place in person from November 2024 through June 2025.
All InterseXtions members must be able to commit to the full work schedule:

YOUTH FOR EQUITY AND SOLIDARITY (PAID)
WHO: Highschool Students between the ages of 14 and 18,
WHAT: The Youth for Equity and Solidarity Council (YES Council) is the NYC Commission on Human Rights’ council of young leaders, between the ages of 14 and 18, who are interested in working on human rights issues in New York City. These young leaders advise the Commission on how to expand our engagement with young people and help guide our youth programming and events by providing feedback on workshops and trainings, informing us of issues and incidents related to bias and discrimination, and planning youth-related events.
The purpose of the council is to build long-term engagement with young people interested in and committed to the mission of the Commission, and to empower young people to become actively engaged in fostering environments of inclusion and respect. Commission staff supports youth council members with trainings and other opportunities that helps to build their advocacy and organizing skills using a human rights framework.
WHERE: Meetings will be a hybrid model (both in person and virtually)
WHEN: Starting in early fall 2024
