NYCPS SUSTAINABILITY YOUTH LEADERSHIP COUNCIL APPLICATION (UNPAID)
WHO: High School students grades 9-12
WHAT: NYCPS Sustainability drives change in all NYC schools by making school buildings more energy, waste, and water efficient and by creating more opportunities for students to access green space, learn about the environment and climate change, and become empowered to take action. NYCPS Sustainability’s goal is to ensure social equity and a healthy environment for all generations.
The NYCPS Sustainability YLC encourages diverse high school students to increase inclusive and impactful sustainability and climate action across NYC schools and communities. This year, the YLC will focus on planning the NYCPS Youth Climate Summit and supporting Climate Action Days in all schools in NYC.
What can I expect from participating?
Develop leadership and teamwork experience.
Learn more about sustainability, the NYCPS, climate change, and student advocacy.
Gain skills and knowledge to empower action and change.
Build youth networks within the YLC and across the NYCPS.
Plan and facilitate Climate Action Day planning events
Earn Community Service Hours for attending and actively participating in YLC meetings.
WHERE: The locations of the following meetings will be announced as soon as possible.
WHEN: The YLC meetings will be held after-school in person, one Thursday of the month, from 4:30-6:30pm.

CTE ISP INTERNSHIP (PAID) Deadline: 10/11/24
CTE ISP Internship (PAID)
WHO: Any senior who has never done an ISP internship before
WHAT: The Industry Scholars Program is an internship provided by the DOE to high school students that engages them with industry-related work trained by professionals in the field. This internship will be paid at the rate of $16/hour for 80 hours.
WHERE: In-person (specific location varies based on placement)
WHEN: 11/4/24 - 12/20/24

FUTURES & OPTIONS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (PAID) Deadline: 10/4/24
FUTURES & OPTIONS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (PAID)
WHO: A junior or senior in high schooL
WHAT: Futures and Options provides paid, mentored internships and career readiness workshops to high school juniors and seniors. Students acquire meaningful hands-on work experience, gain entry to small businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, and multinational corporations, while making connections and creating networks that can last a lifetime. If you are between 16-19 years old and attending a New York City high-school, you are eligible to apply to The Internship Program.
WHERE: Internship opportunities are in-person, hybrid, and remote. The number of virtual opportunities we have each season depends on the needs of our business partners and students. Program workshops will be in-person at the Futures and Options office at 111 Broadway in Manhattan.
WHEN: The School Year Internship Program takes place after school, between September and June. During the school year, students work 5 to 10 hours per week. Most school year internships are a total of 60 - 100 hours

SCHOOL OF INTERACTIVE ARTS FREE GAME DESIGN AFTER SCHOOL (UNPAID)
WHO: Highschool students entering grades 9, 10 and 11 in the fall
WHAT: URBAN ARTS' School of Interactive Arts (SIA) is a FREE multi-year pre-college program in digital game design. We teach high school students the art and science of game development, a field full of opportunity but lacking in diversity. PLAY! DESIGN! CREATE! MEET OTHER GAMERS! We prepare high schoolers for college and career. We use game design to teach computer science and high-level coding. We also offer students pre-professional skills in collaboration, project management and entrepreneurship. Everyone makes a digital piece for their college portfolio. Our mission is to inspire students from low-income communities to access their creativity and harness technology, generating lifelong success through personal growth, exceptional educations and state-of-the-art careers. SIA is completely FREE to eligible students.
WHERE: NYC on 19th street near Union Square
WHEN: Late October 2024 through mid-June 2025
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 - 6:30 pm (in-person)

FAST TRACK INTERNSHIP (UNPAID)
WHO: Highschool students entering grades 9, 10 and 11 in the fall
WHAT: The Fast Track program is a rigorous 9-month program that exposes inner-city high school students to the financial services industry. Students interact with mentors twice a month and focus on developing skills in two key areas: financial aptitude and career/personal development. If you are interested in ECONOMICS, FINANCE, ACCOUNTING, MATH, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS, REAL ESTATE or BANKING as a CAREER choice and hoping for a career in the financial sector, PLEASE APPLY!!!!
WHERE: Goldman Sachs, 200 West Street, New York, NY 10282, 12th Floor (Across from the Liberty Building/Near Battery Park). However, due to COVID-19, meetings for this coming semester will be held virtually ZOOM until further notice.
WHEN: The date and time for the actual start of this program will be OCTOBER 16, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
