NYCLU TEEN ACTIVIST PROJECT APPLICATION (NYC)(PAID)
WHO: High School students ages 14 & up
WHAT: NYCLU's Teen Activist Project (TAP) is an exciting youth program that engages New York City teens as leaders and organizers on civil rights and civil liberties. TAP members work on a range of advocacy issues including but not limited to students' rights, racial justice, the rights of pregnant and parenting teens, policing, LGBTQ rights, immigrants' rights, freedom of speech and religion - and more! TAP is a great opportunity for young people interested in law, health care, social justice issues and community organizing. TAP programming will be fully in-person.
WHERE: The locations of the following meetings will be announced as soon as possible.
WHEN: Be available to meet Mondays from 4:00pm - 6:15pm
Be able to commit to meeting at least one additional day of the week outside of Monday

WORK, LEARN, AND GROW EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (WLG)(PAID)
WHO: High School students ages 16 & up
WHAT: The Career Ready WLG Provider you have chosen will determine your eligibility for the program in consultation with your school. If you are selected to participate in the program, your Career Ready WLG Provider will contact you with further instructions on enrolling in the program.
College Readiness:
Learn skills to make a smooth transition from high school to college and “real’ world
Paid Internship:
Paid internship opportunities available in a variety of industries to accommodate your career interests

Skill-Building Activities:
Receive help with your resume, cover letters, and interview skills. Learn essential job readiness skills and workplace etiquette.
Eligibility and how to apply:
Young person must be between the age of 16-21
Currently enrolled in a CareerReady WLG school
Must have participated in SYEP in the last year
Must reside in NYC and be legally allowed to work in the United States
Youth can apply for the program online or at a community-based organization during the application period. Participants are selected by lottery.
Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

BOROUGH OF MANHATTAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE STEP PROGRAM (UNPAID)
WHO: High School students grades 9-12
WHAT: The BMCC STEP Program is a pre-college enrichment program, providing NYC high school students with innovative academic enrichment in science and mathematics content areas. Our goal is to encourage and increase the presence of historically under-represented groups in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM careers) and licensed professions.
Enriches science and mathematics instruction.
Provides laboratories for supervised training in research method.
Conducts summer programs.
Provides standardized test preparation and practice.
Assists students with the college application process.

WHEN: October 11th, 2024 - December 20th, 2024 (Fridays from 4:00pm - 7pm, College Readiness will take place on Thursdays from 4-7 pm as well

CTE ISP Internship (PAID)
WHO: Any senior who has never done an ISP internship before
WHAT: The Industry Scholars Program is an internship provided by the DOE to high school students that engages them with industry-related work trained by professionals in the field. This internship will be paid at the rate of $16/hour for 80 hours.
WHERE: In-person (specific location varies based on placement)

THE EMPOWER FELLOWSHIP SOCIAL JUSTICE FELLOWSHIP (PAID) Deadline: 10/01/24
THE EMPOWER FELLOWSHIP SOCIAL JUSTICE FELLOWSHIP (PAID)
WHO: High school students between the ages of 15- 19 and living in New York City
WHAT: The EMPOWER Fellowship program at YA-YA is rooted in the foundation of social justice advocacy; that we, ourselves, must take an active role in our own growth. Empower focuses on identity development, self-esteem, confidence building, and leadership training. Throughout the spring, Empower fellows will complete an intensive program that focuses on the following: (I) Self Awareness & Identity Development, (II) Social Justice & Unlearning, (III) Action & Allyship (IV) Action Project. During the Action Project stage, young folks will get the opportunity to engage in an advocacy project of their choice.

WHEN: The Empower Fellowship will take place every Monday and Wednesday from
4:30-6:30pm from October 4th until March 24th.
