MY STREETSCAPE SUMMER RESEARCH INSTITUTE (PAID)
WHO: Rising high school senior (current 11th graders).
WHAT: The CS3 My Streetscape Summer Research Institute (formerly the My Streetscape Summer School) is an interdisciplinary education program on urban technology and trust organized by the Trust Collaboratory and the Center for Smart Streetscapes (CS3) at Columbia Engineering. The program is part of the Columbia Engineering E.N.G. program and is designed for high-school students who wish to hone their interests in engineering and the social sciences, regardless of their level of experience or knowledge.
For six weeks, students learn and conduct research alongside Columbia University scholars to develop their academic and professional skills. Participating students gain deep insights into the methods, strategies, and data used by engineers and social scientists who share the belief that technology when it is introduced in consultation with local communities, can improve the livability, safety, and inclusivity of New York City.

EMMA BOWEN FOUNDATION SUMMER INTERNSHIP (PAID)
WHO: Highschool Students
WHAT: EBF’s mission is to prepare students of color (Asian, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Black, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or Multi-Racial) for careers in the media, entertainment and technology industries. Undergraduate students (including Class of 2024 spring graduates) and high school seniors are eligible to apply. You must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must be enrolled in a 4-year accredited college or university. This includes students who will transfer to a four-year accredited college or university in Spring 2024 or Fall 2024. (High school seniors must provide a college acceptance letter if selected for the program.) For the internship, you must be able to commit to a summer internship that will last at minimum 8 continuous weeks and which could be longer as required by the company’s internship duration. The internship is full-time and students work from 35-40 hours per week as determined by the partner company. (Note: Internships generally start in May or June. The internship start and end dates are determined by the partner company.) Additionally, you must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status in the U.S., and must be 18 years of age prior to the start of the internship.

WHAT: The New-York Historical Society is accepting applications for the spring recess cohort of Tech Scholars: Tech Scholars: Web Design. Explore how women across the spectrum of race, class, and sexuality exercised power and effected change. Be a digital changemaker and create your own websites to share powerful stories about women in history. Participants will: research historical figures and events that continue to impact young people today; collaborate with other teens learning to code; learn HTML and CSS to design and build a website; be mentored by a wide range of professional leaders in technology, and learn about career options.

STUDENT HISTORIAN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM AT THE NEW-YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY (PAID)
WHO: Students entering grades 10-12
WHAT: The New-York Historical Society is accepting applications for the Student Historian Internship Program. Student Historians use the resources of the New-York Historical Society to conduct research and share their scholarship through creative digital projects. Interns meet with professional staff to learn about the museum, library, digital humanities, and history fields; work collaboratively with fellow students to develop their historical thinking, communication, and digital media skills; and engage in hands-on work to deepen their understanding of American history and the digital humanities. Students entering grades 10-12 are eligible to apply.

BLOOMBERG ARTS INTERNSHIP (PAID)
WHO: Highschool Students
WHAT: This summer, high school juniors in New York City can earn $22.50 per hour through the Bloomberg Arts Internship (BAI) program. The internship begins with a 20-hour orientation week and continues as a 33-hour per week program for a total of eight weeks. BAI provides you with a paid opportunity to experience arts careers at one of Studio Institute’s non-profit arts and cultural partners in New York City. This internship will also help you sharpen your writing skills through a program led by Columbia University’s Teachers College, which includes personal support and guidance for completing your college essay. Other workshops, led by Studio instructors and partners, will help you and hone your workplace, career, and communication skills

Internship and workshops take place Monday –Friday: July 8–August 23 (33 hours per week for seven weeks).
