TECH SCHOLARS: PODCASTING SUMMER (PAID)

WHO: High school Students (Rising 10th-12th graders and recent high school graduates). 

WHAT: Explore how women across the spectrum of race, class, and sexuality exercised power and effected change. Be a digital changemaker and learn how to use HTML and CSS to design, code, and build your own websites to share powerful stories about women in history.

YOUTH FOOD ADVOCATES (YFA) (PAID)

WHO: Highschool Students 

WHAT: Youth Food Advocates (YFA) is for young people who want to learn about social justice, public policy and advocacy, and are ready to create systemic change in New York City food systems, with a focus on school food.

YFA is action-oriented. Youth will:

• Plan and facilitate meetings

• Create and collect surveys

• Speak and/or present at food justice events, rallies, and conferences

• Create social media campaigns

• Publish the YFA Newsletter

• Talk to policy makers and school officials

• Host guest speakers

• Collaborate with school food staff

Interns receive an annual stipend of $450 - $550. Amounts vary based on engagement, progress of actions, and attendance.

WHEN: From September through June, YFA interns meet weekly virtually and four times in-person to plan, organize, and participate in campaign actions and coalition activities.

YOUTH PODCASTING ACADEMY (PAID)

WHO: Rising high school juniors and seniors

WHAT: The Bell is looking for young people who want to dive into the world of podcasting and tell stories about their communities. The three-week summer podcasting academy will give you immersive, hands-on training that you will use to create your own podcast episode. You will have the exciting opportunity to work alongside professional storytellers, editors, and producers. Students will receive a $500 stipend upon successful completion of the program.

BROOKLYN INTERNS FOR ART & CULTURE (PAID)

WHO: Rising high school senior attending high school 

WHAT: Brooklyn Interns for Arts & Culture (BIAC) is a paid, one-year college, career, and life-readiness after school internship program that welcomes a cohort of 15 New York City high school students each year. During the program, BIAC Interns learn what it takes to have a career in arts management, get support with post-high school planning, and learn critical wellness practices to help them manage life's transitions while building community. BIAC empowers all participants to be their most authentic selves while contributing to the community around them and sharpening and vision, voice and power!

COMPENSATION

This is a paid opportunity. Students will receive stipends for Summer, Fall and Spring sessions.

Stipend Amounts:

Summer 2024: $225

Fall 2024: $300

Spring 2025: $500

WHAT: Reel Works’ free intensive filmmaking and workforce readiness workshops support and prepare New York youth with essential insights and skills needed to make films or work in the media industry. Reel Works students receive hands-on training, learn from professional filmmakers, and use professional equipment to make festival-worthy films.
